Search Engine Optimization

Should I de index my categories ?

Not applicable.

You have to use categories, but you don’t have to use tags if you don’t want to. I'd use both to make UX (user experience) most navigational.

Resource

Thanks yea I Ben using categories and sun categories. But should we leave them un indexed?

No not applicable i.e. do.

Read here https://yoast.com/video/ask-yoast-noindexing-tags-categories-foodblog/

Thanks I’ll keep them indexed

No worries, Matt :)

One more thing. Do I need to use sub categories?

You can do but certainly not obligatory, only if your content requires it and it is user experience friendly.

You just shift it a bit to the right. If you do not want the top bit to do anything, just input # in the url link.

I use the keyword in the perma link of the article. I never heard of using #

I meant a category as a menu item with no function.

Thanks

Most welcome :)

In search console in the crawl report I see that only the main website url is getting crawled and not my posts. Has anyone had this problem

Have you been figured out here, sounds like Phil got you covered?

Yes thanks Abbie

By the way I looked up that place you are in in Croatia. Looks great. I was in Montenegro a few months ago and if I had known about it I would of went there instead of Montenegro

Lol that's awesome , and it is like next door neighbor how wonderful. South of Croatia is really beautiful and touristic.

That's good you are sorted, really happy for you.

I’ll have to go next summer.

Yes I will be there, I will by then set up my DJ business :D

Great

Are you from USA

Thanks

Certainly lol Thank you and you're very welcome :) I like to be called cosmopolitan though, because my family is huge and it covers many countries.

Cool

:)

Use GSC to submit your blog posts for indexing.

Yes I do and it works. But they don’t naturally get crawled

Presumably because you're using GSC to prioritize the crawl. If you didn't, they would get crawled eventually in the natural order of things.

Ok so then don’t submit a request for indexing?

Why? Don't you want your posts indexed as fast as possible?

Yes that’s why I request indexing

I’m confused

I send in a request as soon as I publish and then it gets indexed in a day. Then in the crawl report it only shows the home page getting crawled naturally without being requested. What I’m asking is shouldn’t my articles keep getting crawled on their own?

Which just gets you indexed faster than if you didn't.

It's simple. All your content gets crawled... eventually. Submitting via GSC just makes it happen faster. I don't understand why you're even concerned about this.

Maybe I’m over thinking. But I’m just curious why only my home page gets crawled naturally

What I was suggesting was that if you didn't use GSC to submit your pages, they would eventually get crawled naturally. But there's no upside to doing that. As long as they're being indexed after submission, keep doing it.

Ok thanks I’ll keep indexing manually

So your saying there’s no upside to not indexing manually. Meaning we should request them to be indexed as soon as we publish?

Yes, absolutely. All GSC does is move them up the queue.

Thanks Phil.

One of my articles is not getting indexed and I’m trying to figure out why. It’s very good same or better as page one

Unfortunately, that's very common and it indicates that there are many hidden factors that the Google algorithm uses. All you can do is make changes (and go through your SEO plugin checking the factors that it reports) and resubmit after each change.

Thanks

I think google sees it as duplicate content. I made a list post like the other sites did

Do you have the site kit plugin installed on your site? From there is where you want to check your stats.

Yes but I have not checked site kit plugin. I only check search console. Search console shows that only the main page is crawled and not the posts. The posts I have manually index

Site kit does not show crawling status

You want to go through the training and in their Kyle mentions how the site kit plugin works with.

Your site may not be indexed yet or the blog posts. Without site kit you would have to create projects for every post which is time consuming.

Just do what is taught here. Do not add or take away. As you go through the training your questions will be answered.

Nothing that is important such at indexing and knowing your stats is left to speculation.

The site is indexed and the articles are indexed

In search console it seems that google is only crawling my site and not my posts. Is this normal? Also I have to manually request indexing.

Resources No harm having a sitemap submitted again.

Thanks so add the site map again?

Just added 2 . There were 2 in the robots txt file

Maybe this is the problem

Does it read three properties, or may be that's your cache?

It’s 3 that I added
