To Get on The Bus Nicely
We had been Experiencing This For Weeks
In My classroom is where 3 older children catch the Special Ed Bus. This one student with autism was totally unpredictable.
One moment fine and playing with cars or toys. But when it came time to load the bus, he might sling the back pack at the bus driver...that was not a good sign.
Then 2 teachers went with him if he resisted, to try to get him to sit down long enough to get the seat belt on.
We were trying different things to see if he would be happy to walk on the bus in his own.
Then a passing practice I was doing in my classroom the child took notice of.
I had started using an elephant stamp on the hand or arm. I showed the student by stamping one on my arm. Then I put one on the child's arm.
For the first time the student walked on the bus and happily sat down.
The teachers were so excited that this worked. I was then told all day they had been pondering something that the bus driver could provide. Not candy....what.
Then the answer just was there! Cool!

ASD is horrible. I have it but low on spectrum. It has ruined my life totally and left me alone.
That was so very creative, Susan! Very well done!
