The Hockey Stick
"Hockey stick growth is the growth pattern that a company exhibits where initially there is a stagnant growth, but when a certain point is hit (point of inflexion), growth increases exponentially. Usually, such growth charts differentiate a startup from a small business." - From Google
So for the last 3 months, and probably 6 months before that, nothing was working. I dawdled along at about 50-60 clicks a month and maybe 2-3K impressions. I now have 125 posts. So no real traffic. And google walked away from me last March so no help there.
I have been getting good traffic on YouTube. That channel is growing slowly. I should hit 400 subscribers by tomorrow. And just crossed 15K views for the last 28 days. That's double what it was a month or so ago. That thanks to going to 3 videos a week and a boost from a couple of promotions on Black Friday. And made a few sales this month. So videos are OK. The blog? Not so much.
Then I had an inspiration about a week ago. I had an idea for a new subniche. I brought all my tools to bear on it and started posting. But no social media. Yet.
The first day first post, I started getting clicks. Within hours. Not a lot, but some. Now with 11 posts after a week, it accounts for about 1/3 of my traffic. But more important, the hockey stick.
Impressions are climbing, clicks are growing, sessions are growing. This is looking like a hockey stick...
Continuing the experiment I am going to try to post 2 posts a day in a narrow category of this for as long as I can generate them. I have over 50 posts in the queue right now. I can probably generate another 50 with my current list. That doesn't include products which there are at least another 50 without looking hard.
As part of the process, I will also try to generate one video a week in this subniche.
Currently all of my products are on Amazon. If all goes well I will start to branch out in a couple of months, but I can be patient.
Onward!
Michael

Great to hear that your new subniche is showing significant growth at such an early stage Michael!
I personally love it when I see a hockey stick on my stats after months (or longer) of stagnation!!
All the very best moving forward my friend! :-)
