To Start a Food Site or Not start a Food Site?
1
That is the question! I have a passion for good food and cooking so I decided to look into starting a food blog. In looking at the giants, like FOOD52.com, it looks like they just reuse content from other sites and authors. The site is packed with content that seems like it's borrowed. Of course all the proper credit seems to be given to the original content writers. Does anyone out there see it this way? I know there is a ton of work going on behind the scenes at FOOD52 but I wonder how much of it is original content.
Any thoughts?

Not sure on the original content aspect of food52 but a food site is actually a great idea.
Depending on where you live, maybe something covering local food joints? Easy breakdown actually. Can do all 3 meals of the day, best place to get said meal.
Watering holes, diners, high end, quantity, quality, list goes on.
Would be easy from a traffic standpoint as well. Most "friends" on facebook are local. They see you share a review of a dish or a local establishment they are much more likely to read.
Just my thoughts.

Good thoughts Jason, we think alike. I live in Orlando, FL and boy are we loaded with restaurants. Was thinking of even doing some copycat recipes along with the reviews of some of the signature dishes!
Love the recipe idea. Just thought of another as well.
Maybe a section (recipe's included) "Bring your favorite restaurant to your backyard" kinda thing. Sounds fun!
i like your ideas . how do you envision monetizing the site? Adsense, or maybe Groupon partner?
