Breathe. Focus.

It's now been 20 days since I wrote the About page for my first serious website here at WA. While I've taken some great steps since then, I'm sure I could have been even further ahead had I done two things:

1. Remembering to breathe, and

2. Focusing on one thing at a time.

By breathing I mean taking a step back now and then. Of course enthusiasm rocks, but it can lead to overenganging, which can lead to burnout. I love working with my mind on fire, but breaks are necessary to recharge. I've learned now that I can't work all day even though I want to - it's just not healthy.

As for focusing, it's hard when you're excited/obsessed and want to learn it all at once. During these 20 days I've been led astray by a hundred articles about Pinterest, blogging, and SEO.

And what did that lead to?

Just less time to focus on the work that matters the most right now: writing content.

I'm still in the beginning phase of creating my own business. Of course that makes me eager to do everything "correctly", because I so badly want to succeed. But spreading myself too thin has really only hampered my progress. So from now on, I keep a page in my journal for writing down all the ideas and tasks floating around in my brain. I can deal with them later, once the more important work has been done.

Prioritising is key.

Just wanted to share this in case anyone else needs it. Keep fanning those flames, but remember to just sit down, warm your hands and enjoy the view sometimes!
