My Morning Routine
Ok so I have read tons of articles and posts about morning routines of successful people. Influencers like Tim Ferriss have featured lots of valuable content and studies about morning routines positively affecting your performance.
Do they really work? Well there is only one way to find out...try it out yourself. So that's what I did...
A few weeks later I have noticed several positive effects:
- My sleep quality has improved
- My energy level and focus is more stable during the day
- I feel more organized and more clear on priorities each day
- I get into flow and peak performance state much faster
There are many ways you can structure your morning routine. Just google for ideas and build your own personal routine. The below is what I do:
- I make my bed (interestingly, this is on most morning routine lists of ultra successful people...it gives you a sense of accomplishment which is a great way to start your day)
- I have a cup of hot coffee while listening to a song I currently like (the coffee gives me an energy boost and the song makes me feel good)
- I meditate for 15 minutes (I use an app called Headspace for guided meditation)
- I have a healthy and nutritious breakfast (for me it's oatmeal, banana, protein shake)
- I read for 30min (valuable books on personal development, business, etc)
- I review my weekly goals and priority tasks for the day
- Ready to go :)
If you already have a morning routine, I would like to hear from you what your experience has been? And if you don't, I encourage you to try it...and let me know a few weeks later if you saw a positive impact ;)

my morning =total chaos, foggy, its better if i start the night before....oh yeah, that to do list thing!
I'm not a morning person. So my first act in the morning is to get my body moving.
I wake up, and I say a motivational (even though my mind is in a groggy fog)
Then I go exercise for about 30 minutes. After this, I'm fully awake.
I make up my bed now.
Then I meditate for 20 minutes, I might read something before meditation.
I have my breakfast (before I exercise, I might have a light snack).
Then I look over my goals for the day, week, year, life.
Then I start working.
I love it! I might actually try the morning exercise also because just like you, I'm not a morning person :)
For me, it's also great motivation. My body and mind does not want to exert effort first thing in the morning. Something else within you has to make you do that. So after 10 or 15 minutes, it's like something gives and I've conquered the limitation. A lot of the times I end up starting the day with the feeling of victory that I can accomplish whatever I want, just because I've transcended my own self.
I agree! A morning routine is crucial to setting the tone for the day!
thank you for this..so well written!

I love point 4. Healthy and nutritious breakfast is a must to do activity. We need it to face the day challenges.
So true! The days when I don't get a proper breakfast for whatever reason I'm not myself haha :)
I am not a morning person, but I also find myself much more productive on the days that I force myself to get up earlier. Of course, this means an earlier bed-time and just a general sense of discipline. But the morning prodcutivity really works. I will try some of your ideas above.
I'm same as you...always was more of a night person :) But I found out that my most productive days are those when I get up early...
Hmmm. Very good post. I may have to try your routine for myself. I recently purchased Tim Ferris's latest book, Tools of Titans. I think it's a masteripiece.
Thanks buddy! Yeah Tools of Titans is awesome...I really recommend you listen to the full podcasts too ;) My favorite is Tim's interview with Arnold Schwarzenegger :)
Lol...I love your morning routine Ronnie and am jealous! I have two kids going on three, so unfortunatly my routine will look a lot different!
Haha yeah I can see how kids can make this complicated :) Perhaps trying to get up before them to get some alone time? :)
Oh yeah, getting up early is key! I'ts much like trying to play Santa during the night before Christmas when yer wrapping gifts. If the floor creaks too loud or I drop a cup...forget it. And morning shakes can't take place either. You want to see the biggest ninja in the world that's me in the morning!!!
