New Zealand Vacation Interrupted!
I spent five days in Auckland and then my vaction was cut short by the Coronavirus. No one appeared to be panicing in New Zealand about the matter. My traveling companion and I were even getting ready to get and rent a traveling vehicale to go across the Northern Island. Then stupid things began to happen which in the end was more like protection.
The uber we ordered would not show up because there was to much traffic on the street. We tried an other uber that did not show up either but jammed up my campion's credit card for a couple of minutes that she was not able to do anything with it for a short duration.
We went back to our rented suite to take a break. She opened an e-mail she recieved from the University Of Montreal telling that all classes had been annulled because of the coronavirus. At that point we changed our plans and decided to take the plane home. It took two hours to get new seats on a new plane.
Finally we had a plane for Sunday afternoon. We went to the Auckland Zoo in the morning and saw the famous kiwi bird. Then we went back to the suite to get ready to leave for the airport.
The airport was crowed with people wanting to get out of New Zealand Fast. It took a long time to get out luggaged checked out.
To make a long story short we made it to Vancouver, spent one night in a hotel there and then took our flight to Montreal. I stay at my friend's apt for two weeks in quarentine. A day after we arrived in Montreal New Zealand had closed all its borders.
On the plus side we did not get the virus.
Auckland was a nice city to visit. I hope to go back whenever this global crisis is over.
