Anybody here ended up selling actual products on your website?
I just finished Course 4, Lesson 7, and one of the tasks from that lesson is to create a blog post. So here I am!
I've been here for around six weeks now, and here are the things that I have accomplished:
- Created a fully functional website: www.kenzieko.com.
- Learned how to create a store-like affiliate landing page using Storefront.
- Learned about different ways to make money.
- Learned that social media marketing is very powerful.
Financial progress:
- Amazon affiliate: $0
- Other affiliate programs (at least 4 others): $0
- Google Adsense: $0.30! Haha
The money is not the part that really discourages me. The last six weeks have also been more than learning about becoming an affiliate. It's a self discovery as well. I realize that I need to love writing in order to be able to create good content. I hate writing and often have difficulty getting my points across or influence people. As Kyle/Carson said, you don't need to be a great/fantastic writers, but I do believe that you need to love writing since as an affiliate you will have to promote a wide variety of products, which means tons of writing. Without good content, I don't believe that I can get loyal followers and can influence people to buy the products that I am promoting. Also, I am having difficulty promoting products that I have not really tried myself yet. So this business model has been bad for my pocket since I have been buying many dresses for my daughter since I started! I am happy, she is happy, my husband is not... :P
I am starting to think that affiliate business model is not for me. I am considering finding actual products and sell them. That way I am thinking that the profit margin will be higher and I will only have to focus on marketing very small number of products (and much less writing). I don't know if this theory is true.
So, for anyone here who ended up selling actual products, did you have to write less to market your product or did you spend the same amount of time?
