Write the content first, insert the affiliate links later?
Hello fellow Wealthy Affiliates!
I'm back and more serious than ever. I have been on here for three months, and thanks to nathaniell, I am about to get over the infamous "three-month wall". He sent me message about it, included his article on it, which I read multiple times, took notes on, and took immediate action on!
I especially took to heart the idea that I needed to do alphabet soup method of keyword searching to get at least 20 keywords ready, plan out all the content, write out the plan on paper (I should be posting 2x a week, at a minimum), and hold myself accountable to it. This was a godsend, especially considering that, at the time, I was on Level 2 Lesson 7. I was already to learn about the alphabet soup technique and the task for that lesson was to use it to get 5 keywords! By following nathaniell's plan, I was waaaaayyyyy ahead!!!
A couple days ago, I got an article out, from that keyword search, more quickly than I ever thought I could. Seems the plan made it easier to decide upon and write the actual article! Now, again, I hit wall.
My situation right now is thus:
- I have the ~20 keywords, most of which are geared towards reviews or recommendations of actual product
- "doggo products"
- "doggo treats"/"best doggie treats"
- "doggy birthday cakes"
- "doggie apparel"
- "potty training for dogs"
- "how to exercise my dog"
- "how to exercise your dog indoors"
- "how to exercise an older dog" (honestly, these three could possibly be covered under one keyword "how to exercise my dog")
- "best meme 2019" (already covered!)
- "fashion dog"
- "dog anxiety attack symptoms"
- "stopping dog chewing"
- "dog hiccups after eating"
- "dog sounds like it is choking"
- "best dog christmas gifts"
- "common dog food allergies"
- "training dog harness"
- "best heated dog bed"
- "best dog worming products"
- "dry dog food that dogs love"
- "best dog names huge dogs"
- "top 10 best dog names"
- "stop dog pulling during walk"
- "top dog leash"
- "best dog food for dogs with allergies"
- I don't yet have action plan on the order in which I want to write the content
- With it being, at the time of writing, 10 days before Christmas, I am tempted to write about the best dog Christmas gifts.
- This is going to look a lot like me crawling Amazon links/niche sites from other affiliates/businesses.
- There will need to be a lot of affiliate links for this article to "work". (NOTE: I haven't hit Level 3 (the money making level) yet, so I am a bit hesitant to even attempt it.)
- With this being the second post of this week (yes, I'm including Sunday as day of the same week as two days ago), and given the other stuff I need to do today, I need a quick win. I could probably pick something like common dog food allergies (since I already know some stuff about this), writing the article quickly, and then making best dog Christmas gifts my next article, that I'll write hopefully before my normal post days (right now, those are Friday and Sunday).
I'm probably overthinking all this, but how would you approach this?

It takes some time to "discover" which is best for your niche. What would cause you audience to click. If you know that, you only need one link. I got a friend who made money just by putting affiliate links on pictures of pets. Cute or unusual pictures usually get shared. All he does is put a relevant link and it gets clicks.
UPDATE: I just wrote that article, about the dog food allergies! Be on the lookout for my congratulatory post!
Hi Michael! Look over the Christmas Season. Research the trend and analyze products that will make a dent in 2020 and start asap! you are truly way ahead in strategic writing content! Cheers!
I think my suggestion would be to forget Christmas articles.. to be honest I think that boat has sailed for you this year.. think about how you see your website building this coming year, and get yourself prepared for that. Get 3 articles out a week ( wish I was managing that right now!) and build your authority! The pet niche is bursting so just be aware that the road might get tough.

For a new blog, I would choose by what top 5 keywords are somewhat related, i.e. I see you already did the one on allergies, so stay with food allergies for another 4 articles, ie:
2- dog losing hair because of allergies
3- dog with a specific allergy
4 dog with another specific allergy and your solution
5 - how a particular diet cured an allergy.
AND try to get keywords that are +50 Avg and -50 SRO, if not then >30 Avg and -100 SRO.
Put your links in the article now! For those 5 articles, they can be about the same product even. I know a seasoned niche site builder with over 50 sites who built a site in Nov. and was earning within 2 weeks. He also does a Youtube version of each article and posts it on Facebook brand or business page.
I have another article up, as of yesterday!
