Scams truly come in all shapes and sizes. Be alert.

Watch for scams everywhere, even when you least expect it. I have several businesses, one involving the service industry, therapy and life coaching. A client desired to give a gift to several employees for their hard work, was sending them for gift sessions by private driver. All good, nice perk for top employees, not unusual, until driver doesn't accept credit cards, could I process for him and remit to driver for each ride, a bit unusual, but still just a minor glitch, then suddenly, time to finalize and client inquires who I process credit cards through, then the red flag begins moving higher on the pole. Once I name the processor, one of the largest nationwide, the next question blew the lid off, " my cc won't be accepted by them can you use someone else". There it was, a really imaginative scam where I'm sure the card was either phony or stolen and had I not really been attuned to scams, I would have been libel for over 5K on one sale. Keep your wits about you. Scams come in all shapes and sizes and there are those out there that don't care who they hurt. This is another example of where they anticipate that greed factor to take over. It's sad but it's becoming so hard to trust anyone. It seems like every time we try working hard to make a buck, there's some a hole just conniving in the wings figuring how to get it from you. Sad really sad.

I advertised a microwave on Craig's list. Woman e-mailed me, she would have someone pick up, if ok. She would send me her check, take an extra $25 out of it for my trouble, give the remaining to the one picking it up. Sends me a check for $1,350, I should cash it in my checking, keep the $50 + $25, then take the rest, go to Walmart and do a moneygram to someone in California! Ummmmm, NO! It would turn out the check was no good and I would be responsible for reimbursing the bank. Wasn't real sure how much the check was going to be, but when I see the amount, no way! Gave the Post Office the check and e-mailed the e-mails I received from her. Sure got to keep watching, everywhere! Best of luck to you!

Hi Mitch,
Thank you for sharing this information.
We have to be careful because there are many people who like easy money.
Best Regards,
Rosa

Thanks Gary. I run a number of semi successful enterprises, this being the most lucrative and I've never had a problem. But out of nowhere, as innocent as it sounded at first, as well as profitable, suddenly I came to realize this dude wants to use me literally to bilk someone and me out of several thousand, without a thought. It really makes us always to be on our guard. You know the old saying if it's sounds to good. Stay away. Thanks again.

Well Mr. Mitch Harvey, you certainly hit home there. I had only been thinking about getting scammed when people were trying to get your money with their promises of the world. Now my eyes just opened to the possibility of getting duped by someone doing some kind of online purchase from you.
Excellent warning and message.
Have a Great Weekend !!

Gary

It amazes me sometimes just how far people will go.

We always need to have our scam radar on unfortunately! Some are quite creative!

It is sad that we have to be so wary these days, another unfortunate fact of life. Glad you had your wits about you :)

Thanks
