Almost 1 Month In - My Progress So Far

I came to Wealthy Affiliate in late August 2021, and officially got started on my journey here at the beginning of September. Oddly it feels both so distant in the past and yet as near as yesterday!

I know it can be helpful to stop and take stock of where I am and how far I have come. But I've never been very good at giving myself a pat on the back - especially when it's easy to see that there is still so much more to learn and do.

So far I have:

  • Chosen a niche that I have had a longstanding passion for (LEGO!)
  • Created my own niche website, and acquired a domain
  • Learned about creating quailty content with an audience in mind
  • Created and added content to my website, while also taking some basic SEO into consideration
  • Received comments within my content
  • Begun to (vaguely) envision how business can grow from my website long-term
  • Refrained from getting overwhelmed

Frustration.

With that said, I feel like I haven't gone far enough fast enough! I just concluded my years as a 20-something, but to be honest, I should have been getting this ball rolling ages ago!

My passion was there staring me in the face all that time, and yet I never stopped to look at it as an asset; never thought to seek a way to earn an income from it.

It can be frustrating to think about where I could be today if only I had shaken myself awake and gotten started even 5 years ago.

Difficulty.

I tend to be a perfectionist, especially about things that I care a lot about. Creating quality content is now one of those things.

Because of this, I'm afraid that I'm not as productive as I should be. The majority of the time (not always, but the majority), it takes me hours - 2 times it took a full day! - just to write an article and collect relevant imagery for it!

I know I should aim to get better at the productivity, to help with sustainability long-term. I don't want to get burned out.

If you have more advice on how to curb "perfectionist" tendancies and practice better productivity - please leave a comment!

    Success.

Nonethess, I am proud of the brand/style I have started to build. I have an odd combination of confidence, conviction, and fear that I am on the right track at last. I am about to start Level 3 of the training: Making Money!

I am learning a skill that could very well become valuable in ways that I do not yet recognize or foresee. That is exciting: to become confident and proficient and eventually a master of a skill!

My plans for the next 3 months is to have achieved some measure of traffic that is organically interested in my content, and to have begun to earn some affiliate income.

    Is that too vague?

Sometimes I find it challenging to put hard numbers and expectations on things - especially goals. Getting stressed to meet specific goals such as these, and disapointment for failing to do so, probably prevents me from getting more concrete with goal setting right now.

Some days I am more optimistic than others. But I have made a commitment to myself that, regardless of my feelings, I will not give up effort or hope.
