What's Holding Me Back

Hello everyone! This is my first blog post, and since I am currently struggling with a few thing, I figured that would be a good topic to begin with.

For starters, I am a new mom of a needy two month old baby and find myself with little time to do anything around the house. Fortunately, my little girl's needyness has caused me to search the internet for a way to make money while a baby is asleep on my chest. What I found was Wealthy Affiliate!

Now, on to my struggles. As a musician, music teacher, artist, and song writer I use my hands a lot. Ever since I was in high school I have been experiencing various levels of hand, arm, and elbow pain. I have yet to discover what the pain is from, but my fear is that it is carpal tunnel or something equally or more serious. As you can imagine, this has made writing articles difficult and it is only getting worse. Hopefully I will be able to get this diagnosed soon and get it remedied. If not, I'm uncertain if I will be able to continue on WA.

My next issue stems from a lack of funds. Two and a half months ago I went on maternity leave to have some time with my newborn. As a result, I lost over half of my violin students and am now making only about $300 each month, which is barely enough for groceries. I cannot afford to have internet at my home, and so I have been unable to use my laptop to write my articles. I cannot go to starbucks or some other cafe to use their internet because I have a baby who is being exclusively breastfed. So, I have been using my smart phone to navigate the WA site, create my website, and write my articles. This has been quite difficult and is probably causing me more pain than typing on my laptop would have.

What I am hoping is that very soon I will be making money here at WA and be able to solve this problem. Any tips to make this happen sooner would be much appreciated.

Thank you all for reading!

Missy

I have found that I can often park near a store that has WiFi and link in from my car. Find a spot where you can get close enough to link up but still have the privacy you need.
I also started having pain in my hands and joints and it turned out to be inflammation and was greatly relieved by switching to an anti inflammatory diet.
Good on you for taking action to improve your life for you and yours.

Yikes, that's terrible. Not sure what to say about the pain, but you should really look into Dragon dictation software. It's pretty accurate and will save you a ton of time and effort typing. Once you learn how to use it, the only typing you'll have to do is maybe some copy/pasting here and there. But you will have taken the bulk of the typing burden away. I write for a living, so I get tired of typing myself. Dragon was a godsend for me.

Anyhow, I hope you get some answers regarding the pain issue. More importantly, I hope you're able to get some relief from that.

Best wishes,

Mark

A little update for everyone who bothered to comment. I have an appointment next week to get my hands looked at. I'm hoping they'll be able to help me ease the pain. Thank you all for your support and advice

Missy

Welcome to WA and I do agree with all the suggestion down below. I am sorry to hear about your struggles and I understand how hard it is with a 2-month-old. She wants all your attention and that is understandable because she needs you.

First and foremost you need to go see the doctor about your hands so you can determine what to do next. You won't be able to know what to do until that gets done first.

Then you can figure where to go from there. You have to take care of yourself so you can take care of your little girl. Then you can determine how to handle the rest of the issues. I am going to be praying for you and sending hugs toward your way. Things are going to work out for you.

Just think positive and no worries we are always going to be here for you just do what you have to do to get better.

Best wishes to you and your daughter

Hello, Missy.
Glad to "hear" that despite the challanges you still try to make a better future for you and your daughter. I know what means to have only pieces of time since I got my 10 month boy (it is not very much better than 2 months, he want to play with me all day and stay in my arms and he sleeps less than when he was about that age).
I highly recommend a carrier if you don't have one, it gives you as much freedom as it can. You can use both hands for what you need to do and you can breastfeed your baby while she is in it!
I think the best option for you would be a woven wrap since it is inexpensive and it has a long life, till 3 years old or so.
It is ergonomic so your girl would stay in a healthy position and also you wouldn't have any pain in the back area or shoulders.
Best wishes

I did try a few different carriers, but she hated them all. I'm at a total loss.

That's tough. Anyway I'm sure you are going to find the best way for both of you ;) Hang on, somewhen it's going to be better

Can you write your articles on your laptop, then copy and paste them to your blog posts? Perhaps send them to yourself via email and it should be quite easy to then copy and paste on your phone. It's extra tough now because your baby is so young, but as she gets older you'll get a little more time in between, so then maybe you can go to the library and use their wifi to work. Maybe you can even do that now during those brief spurts when she's asleep between feedings. While you are feeding her, you can plan your strategy of how you'll use your next free wifi period. You are already creative - I know you can do this!

Because I don't have internet at home I cannot email them from my laptop. But, I did learn that I can write my articles using google docs even without an internet connection. I can then access it from my phone and upload it using my mobile date.

Thank you for your comment! If not for you, I wouldn't have looked into it further.

Missy,
Welcome to WA very sorry to hear about your
struggles I have been there myself and honestly
still, am struggling today. Go get checked by a
doctor for your pain do not delay finding the
cause for it that is first and foremost of importance.

WA is the only place that I have found online that
will teach you how to build a profitable business
that carries such a small cost. Especially with all
that is included.
I will keep you in my prayers and who knows things
may turn around for you soon.
Susan

Thank you so much! I'm finally seeing a doctor next week.

Missy,
Good for you and I know it is not something
you are probably looking forward to but it
is the best thing you can do for YOU!
Thanks so much for letting me know I feel
better knowing that you are taking the right
steps for you.
Susan

Welcome to WA and wish you all the best.

Thank you! You as well.

Missy Jones, we have all been there but there is light at the end of the tunnel. It is difficult to work with uninterrupted time when you have a little one so I congratulate you on giving it a go.
Wealthy Affiliate is a great place to start as you can work at your own pace.
With your skills in music and art you will be able to build some awesome sites around a niche which is close to you, that you are passionate about.
You could also build a helpful website for young mums struggling to make ends meet. If you can manage on $300 per month for groceries you are doing very well and you could teach budgeting .I would be most interested to know how you do that.
All the best as you journey forward with WA

Wow...busy times I see. Congrats on the new kid!

Have you considered using your phone as a hotspot to work on your computer? Just connect wirelessly or USB if it's supported to your phone and use it's data plan.

As for your carpal tunnel issue, have you considered a text to speech option such as Dragon Naturally Speaking? With a few tweaks you can even setup macros to handle formatting such as headings and what not. It won't do everything but should relieve quite a bit of typing.

I hope you find a way to keep going!

Unfortunately, my very cheap laptop will not connect to my hotspot.

You could pick up a cheap usb wireless adapter that might work.
