Last 24 Hours Update: Site is Live and Indexed! I'm overjoyed with my experience at WA thus far!
Okay, can I be real with you guys?
I'm absolutely in love with Wealthy Affiliate and The Affiliate Bootcamp. I really think I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be.
As some of you may recall from my profile, I recently resigned from my E-Commerce Management position at Otte NY, a luxury fashion boutique with 5 NYC stores and a global online store. They recently offered me a contract position as a writer. Under this position, I would have 3 responsibilities:
1. Writing product descriptions for all of our latest designer Ready to Wear pieces. (Yes, every single piece.)
2. Brainstorming, developing and editing all of Otte NY's fashion & lifestyle blog content (on Wordpress, naturally.)
3. Collaborating with the creative director on Otte NY's subscriber newsletters.
This is all work I've done for them before of course, so the offer was enticing. I'd still feel like I was connected to the fashion industry, and I'd be doing something I enjoy. I keep a pretty good waitressing job on the side (it's NYC... 3 shifts a week could be $1,000 cash) , so I don't particularly need the money. It would purely be a choice based on pleasure, with the extra money being a minor perk.
But, I took a deep breath and reminded myself of why I resigned. I left my job strategically-- under the circumstances of where my life is:
1. I could, very realistically, be making a lot more money doing things I already do.
2. I have the spare time to do it.
3. I live in Manhattan. I NEED to be making more money.
4. I'm a single woman, with no children, who lives alone. I have no distractions! :)
5. I genuinely love what I do. Writing, Working on the Internet, Branding, Operations, etc.
There's literally no reason why I shouldn't be working for myself. I've known this all along, but what I've lacked is the proper guidance to get it kicked off. I've been studying online marketing forever, and have never taken sustainable action due to information overload and what I call "analysis paralysis."
Wealthy Affiliate has been the resource I've needed all along. It is laid out so simply and there's an overwhelming amount of support. I can see why it's great for beginners, but I'm here to say that people like myself, with intermediate knowledge of online business, need this help too. I'm literally overjoyed that I've finally took the leap, because I KNOW I will succeed this time.
