Changing theme - is this possible after starting up your website
I just spoke to my wife who is in two minds with the theme that I have chosen despite having already added various pages and alternations to the new website. When trying to change the theme using the icon 'change your theme completely' (just below customize your site) on the dashboard, I get the error msg saying 'bad request'. Is there any way to bypass this? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks,

This happens to me as well there is some issue with WordPress on that.
Instead, go to appearance then themes you will find that works
Wishing you well and hope you both agree to a great theme. also, note before activating a theme go to live view to see what it would look like and not that with some themes once you activate it you may need to put any widgets and other text back in the sidebar.
Thank you for your advice. Worked all fine. But.... layout-wise I find that my original theme worked better. Do you know if one can switch the main photo across from one theme to another? Basically, the theme page has a nice photo (which I like) but layout-wise not really fit for purpose. Thanks again!
You can delete the original image from the new theme and add your one to that.
Just be aware depending on the theme the size of your photo may need to be re-sized and at times may not look as great if it becomes too large to fit the space.
Go to customize then look at the logo or site identity to see where the original image is most of the time it is in the logo section.
There you can delete it then add your image.
Thanks for the prompt reply. The problem is the original image is not mine (hence not uploaded by me). It's the preinstalled photo on the theme itself that I want to transfer across to another theme. Is this possible?
You can right-click the image as use save as and download it to your computer however if that image is copyright you can get into some serious trouble using it without permission.
Is it worth the risk to get in trouble doing that?
You might need to look for something else that would suit your theme.
Or contact the theme owner as ask if you can use it.
That's a really good point. It hadn't crossed my mind, thanks. (though the themes are both produced by the same company called Creativeily, I guess the actual owner of the photo may well be different). I think it best for me to take some photos myself and upload this instead. Thanks for you help!
That is usually the best options or you can go to site content and see what images are available as they are free if you like any of them you can download them safely.
There are other places that you can get free images

Thanks for the info and signposting. I've now found a real cool (free video) which I have downloaded. I'm sure this is possible but can I remove the original photo on the theme and replace this with a video on a loop as the opening photo? To do this will I need some sort of plug in? Whilst I feel I am skilling up (slowly), questions seem to bring about more questions. Sorry.
You should be able to remove the original photo from the theme as I mentioned early but not sure about replacing it with a video.
Firstly that would be dependant on the theme the other part is that it can slow your website down too so you need to think of that.
If your website is slow to load people will not hang around. I have left many in the past due to slow loading.
Perhaps you can ask this question to the community as there may be someone who may have had this experience and may have an answer for your there.
Wishing you well
