I got Outlook 2010 to work for email

UPDATE 18/12/2015 : After setting up email on Outlook 2010 as I posted below I had a few minor issues that kept cropping up. In the end I went back to using the settings exactly as in the 'email settings' in my email details available when i log into Wealthy Affiliate account - just remember to have SSL off. This works fine now.

I posted this as a reply to a query but thought would put here also in case it's easier to find and I hope it makes sense.

I have my email working in Outlook 2010 and I got it working without tooooo much stuffing around.

The general idea being that you use your ISP's outgoing server details that is, hostname and port number as well as SSL set up (if any). My ISP had these details available on their website.

Note: I used mail.mydomain.com for the incoming server.

For the outgoing server I used my ISP outgoing server details and NOT the SMTP outgoing settings provided on my WA email controls.

Password for incoming and outgoing server is the password listed in the WA email panel (for the webmail). That is the same password in both places.

This worked for me, after a bit of fiddling. I hope it works for others too.

Now just gotta get email working on the iPhone...

Any questions please ask, I'll do my best to let you know what I did this end in case it helps you.

Do you know if this will also work for Outlook 7? I'm having a dickens of a time trying to get email to work properly!

Hi Debra

I don't know if it'll work with Outlook 7, but maybe worth a try? Good Luck. I also got email working on my iphone. I plan to post about it as soon as I get a chance. Let me know if i can help with anything

I've been so frustrated with trying to get it to work, I've stepped away. I will have to gear myself up for another fight before I try it again. LOL And thank I may have to take you up on that.

To get it working on the iphone I used the smtp settings provided on the smtp button at WA on the emails list but used incoming server mail.mydomain.com and port 110 not 25. Also had to turn off SSL settings. Make sure you use the specific outgoing server password for the outgoing bit and the incoming server password for incoming server. So these setting for mail on the iphone at least worked. The outlook 2010 was a bit more stuffing around as I said above.
