Can a theme be removed after it's been installed? If it can be removed will the website return to a default setting for theme?

To change your theme, here is what to do.

You may go to Appearance > Themes and add new.

Input what you are looking for, install and activate.

Your content will be left intact, you may lose out on CSS styles and social media icons if that, however with a bit of tweaking and you are done.

We always recommend you leaving a back up theme, you may od with the Twenty TwentyTwo.

I hope this helps

A website must have a theme, but understand that a theme is just a lens that your site is viewed through. You can change the theme at any time. The contents (pages, posts, menus) won't be affected.

At present there should be multiple themes installed.
WordPress Backoffice -> appearance -> themes. See installed. The current one is "activated" One of the installed themes will be the sites new default theme if the current theme is deactivated and no new site is installed and activated. Your website content will not be lost, but your heading area will probably look different and need to be customized.

Before installing a new theme, do a browser search
theme name + demo to see what it looks like and what it does.

Thank you for the help. I will definitely take your suggestion to preview a new theme before installing it.
Mindy

Glad we could help.

you select a new theme and this repalces the old one...
goto appearance>>theme add new and choose for the popular or new themes
if i may recommend blocksy or kadence as good stable lightweight themes...
make sure you keep at least one of the wordpress themes as a backup just in case there is an issue with your chosen theme...

Thank you for helping me. I will check those two themes out.

I think I accidentally deleted a reviews page that I needed. I just realized it when I moved on to the next training module. I deleted it over a week ago or maybe more. Is ther

Was it in site content? If that then no.

If in WordPress then you can look up trash can under posts tab.

It must have been in site content, because it was not in the trash in WordPress. So, how would I go about this then. Start all over, or try to figure it out somehow.

I haven't published anything except my home page and about and privacy policy. Anything else I have just saved and didn't publish.

If in site once deleted it may not be retrieved however you may try site support see if they have a cache still

You may also look under UNPUBLISHED tab in site support.

Thanks, I will try those two ideas.

You're very welcome and I hope you get sorted sooner.

I followed along in the deleting dummy content, but my website still has hello world all over it in various places. When I tried to type in the meta title and meta description

I've also answered this question where you posted it on my profile. Sorry it took a while. We are in different time zones.

Did you "trash" the dummy post and sample page?
Wordpress backoffice -> posts -> hover over hello world -> see trash.

And then do a refresh cntl + F5

I was finally able to get rid of the dummy post. When I clicked on posts before it wouldn't bring up any further action screens. Now it finally brought up the next screen so I could trash the dummy post. Thank you so much for helping me. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question.

So glad this worked and glad we could help you..

Tutorials If you are on mobile, adding one or two characters, then delete you are able to.

If title and tagline (Just another WordPress site), settings > general edit and save changes.

The SEO framework

You may need to empty the browser cache, refresh and try again. Try URL in a different browser or mobile device.

You can also empty servers cache.
Websites > Site Manager > Details > Sitespeed > Empty site cache

ok thanks. I will try that.

You're very welcome!
