First of all let me make it clear, I'm no expert on SEO but where I can I like to offer advice of what I do know.
As I review many of the web sites here on WA I notice that dozens of the sites use the <h1> code more than the recommended one per page, some sites I've seen it used up to six times.
Let me explain. The search engines are our life line and we need to do every thing possible to help them find their way around our sites.
The <h1> code is normally our main title of the article we have written, it's purpose is to tell the search engines what our site is about and where it starts. Sub headings normally use h2 or h3 or h4 they convey the importance of the headings to the search engines.
Several members are using the name of the site as a h1 heading and are using the same heading on every page, this will be seen by Google and others as duplicate copy, it won't help you and may even get you knock back.
When I do my research online, I'm never satisfied with one person answer, I would normally check it out three or four times before I'm satisfied with the answer. So don't be afraid to check out what I'm saying.
