Diabetes the Silent Killer
Two enemies the western world is facing right now are sugar and salt . These two ingredients are used in nearly all packaged foods - they are the silent killer.
In America, over 100 million people either have diabetes or are pre-diabetic. Many don't even know that they are at risk. Similar percentages are found in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. The cost in terms of damage to health is staggering - people need to be aware that obesity often leads to diabetes which in turn leads to eye disease, liver disease, loss of limbs due to poor circulation plus other illnesses.
The warnings are everywhere yet few heed them. The thinking is, it won't affect me which leads to apathy.
When diagnosed as potentially pre-diabetic, I decided to do all I could to reverse the possibility and also to promote healthy foods so that others can learn in time and avoid contacting the disease. Hence, two of my websites are dedicated to healthy living. It is essential that we all educate ourselves on the dangers of the silent killers, sugar and salt.
It is estimated that by the year 2020 half the population of the US will be affected in some form or other with diabetes and a similar increase is happening in most western countries.
The solution is simple - avoid sugar and salt in packaged foods and drinks, eat lots of fresh vegetables, cook your own foods so you know what's in them and eat smaller portions.

Hi Mike, I am a type 2 diabetic but not obese. I was diagnosed about 4
years ago . I felt totally ashamed that I had been so unaware of the rubbish I was eating and how I ended up with it. I look at people who are eating poorly and despair of them because I know they are going to be next.
Hi Greg
Thanks for commenting I like to hear if what I write about is of some help to people.
Sorry to hear you have type 2 diabetes, was your cholesterol high how about blood pressure? Are you aware that in many cases diabetes is reversible, see articles on my site creatinglifestyle.com for more info.
Thank you for this post as a reminder. My mom, my oldest brother and myself are diabetics. You cannot even imagine how much control I have to eat anything with lots of sugar and salt. I have not drank any soda for the last 7 years. Best of luck to you reversing this disease.
Thank you Mel, lets encourage family and friends to limit the use of highly processed foods
