Confessions of a Lousy Affiliate Marketer - 300 Reasons To Quit
I really didn't know what I was getting myself into. I was just being nosy.
A friend of my wife's emailed her a Pinterest post about the top 10 work from home jobs. I already told you I was being nosy. I liked the idea of working from home, too. I bounced quickly through the top 10. But #11 on that list was Wealthy Affiliate.
Yeah, the top 10 list had 11 items.
So I got into this. Overwhelming. Thing. But I said to myself, "This is gonna work."
My confession? I almost quit the other day. Level 3 almost took me down. My site wasn't indexed. I wasn't involved in social media and I didn't want to open a bunch of accounts. The niche + affiliate search and sign up process got me all frazzled. I had writer's block. I was tired. Plus I had a rash on my butt.
I wrote this for the sole purpose of relating to anyone who is considering quitting.
It's so easy to get overwhelmed and make rash decisions. We all live there. But the winners overcome excuses and find a way to get it done. Maybe it takes more time than you first thought, but that's just part of your story.
4 Excuses You Would Never Use As The Real Reason You Quit
So, you know, most of us don't have legitimate reasons to quit. We have legitimate excuses and then make up reasons that usually smell like blame. Goes a little something like this...
1. You broadcast to everyone in the community that you're going to Vegas but every day the toolbar reminds you that 300 more people need to sign up.
A classic case of the WA Toolbar Effect. You're working hard and seemingly going nowhere. My confession? I'm still staring at a 300.
2. You offer site feedback and site comments, looking at these beautiful, upper echelon, professional level websites and you wonder how you could ever build something so intricate and clean.
Stop that. These people have been building out their sites for years. Do you remember the first versions of Japanese cars? They were ugly. Your site is ugly. If you quit now, it will still be ugly. So stick around and you might be surprised to see what it becomes in a few months or a year from now.
3. You are feeling inadequate because you are ranked in the top nothing and just want to be done with the training so you can start making the $50,000 per month you, again, broadcast to the entire WA community as your money goal.
You won't make $50,000 a month while you're still on level 3 training. Probably not. Just keep training and work on your first $50.
4. You didn't realize how much time you would be dedicating to assisting the community, not just on this site, but on their sites and on social media. You thought you would get your affiliate links and start writing posts with banners strategically positioned all over your site so you could bring in the dollars.
Don't do the banner thing that I just said.
HEY!! This is not the time to quit. This is the time to remember those big goals you set on day one and then make a decision to rise up to the challenge. This is the time to take control of your thoughts and let them know who's gonna win that war.
This is the time to make your confession in the comments section below and issue a challenge to yourself for that time you think you want to quit again.
God bless,
Mike Jay

If something needs saying - then go and get it said!!
Isn't it surprising just how many excuses we are able to find for our 'lack of taking action'...... I know this only too damn well!
So, thank you for being so kind and giving me the realisation of where I have been for these past few months, and appreciating what is actually needed to make this worthwhile.
Hey, thanks for being transparent!
I only know because I've been there, too. I wrote this for me when I come to the next place in my journey where I want to quit.
Don't think it won't keep happening.
Keep up the hard work! It's going to pay off in more ways than one.
Blessings,
Mike
Great post! You are so right I look as some of these site and say to myself how did they do that? I will never be able to do that.
It is overwhelming. But I keep thinking of the old saying how do you eat a elephant? One bite at a time. And that how i'm trying to do WA, one step at a time day by day. If you do that I believe people can succeed.
Never stop never quit!
God bless,
Craig

Mike, thank you for the unexpected chuckles that popped out of me as I read your encouraging, entertaining post.
Here's my confession:
#4 has been lurking in the back of my mind lately, and I find myself staring at ALL those emails from WA, and grumbling about when am I going to find the time to work on my own stuff, yada yada...
So next time I get whiny about helping others, I'll remember what Robert Kiyosaki's Rich Dad said to him after listening to Robert complain and have a long-distance pity party of one late one night:
"You can always quit. Why quit now?"
I like unexpected chuckles.
I like that this is a giving, pay-it-forward type of community. I am learnimg a lot by reviewing other sites and making site comments. It's fun for me now.
Thanks for stopping by and taking time to comment.
All the best to you!
Mike
