My Long-Winded Route to Discovering the Benefits of Wealthy Affiliate!

A Quick Background Story

When I stopped full time work at the age of 65, I found that I was in the same position as millions of other people around the world. In other words, my pension pot was nowhere near as large as I thought it would be!

Luckily, I was fairly fit and so I decided to work part-time doing something I had never done before. I delivered (and still do) deliver medication to mainly elderly house bound people, which I actually enjoy doing. This keeps me out of mischief for a few hours every morning, Monday to Friday, But the reality is that I won't be able to do this forever, and so I knew I needed to find another way to increase my income.

What to Do?

Coming from a pre-computer generation, I had always tried to keep up with advances in technology. However, without any formal training I really struggled to understand a lot of what computers can and can't do. But deep down I had a feeling that my future would be secure if only I could find a way of selling things on the internet. But what could I sell?

I looked at Ebay, Drop Shipping, Amazon etc but always found major obstacles such as supply and demand. But it was while searching for a new idea that I randomly came across an article about Affiliate Marketing.

My First Step

I discovered a company based in England who offered a completely free training course, and although I was sceptical, I signed up. This was the best move I made. Not only did they explain the business in easy-to-understand steps, but they also recommended that I should take a look at Wealthy Affiliate. Of course, I know that they earned a commission once I signed up to WA, but that convinced me that the business blueprint was straight forward and actually worked.

Did I Achieve Overnight Success?

No, is the simple answer! I kind of played at things and fooled myself that I was progressing. But the reality was that I didn't even follow the training videos.

And then I saw a great advert for an Affiliate Company who promised the earth and assured me that I only had to sign up with them to fulfill my dreams. I therefore parted with a considerable sign-up fee, only to realise it wasn't for me. You'd think at my age, I would know better...

Lesson Learned

Three months ago, I returned to Wealthy Affiliate and this time followed the advice. To cut a long story short, I now have a website that has five of my posts on Page 1 of Yahoo. I have now found a brilliant copywriter and computer expert who I found at Fiverr.com

She is currently editing more of my posts, and already Google are starting to pick up on my site

Stay with WA... follow the training, and slowly get there!
