Imagine, if you will, a young man sitting in a five by eight ft. cubicle typing fiercely at the company's computer. A loyal employee, who worked hard, on time, and never missed a day He is about to enter a place where his life will be turned upside down. A frightful world filled with uncertainty and self doubt. He is about to enter the......

UNEMPLOYMENT ZONE!

In walks a tall thin man wearing an Armani suit from Niemen Marcus carrying a long, white package in his right hand. He hands our hardworking employee the envelope with John Doe typed neatly on its front.

"What's this, Boss?" John looks away from his computer screen, curious as to what is in the package.

"Sorry, John, but we have to let you go," replied Mr. Armani Suit. "Cut backs. The company is down sizing." He continues down the long corridor of human cattle filled cubicles, leaving an air of dread in his wake.

Four months later we find our frustrated here standing next to a young woman as they wash the dinner dishes together. She in a pair of faded, blue jeans and a wrinkled, pink, short sleeve blouse. He is also in jeans along with an old, faded AC/DC t-shirt.

"Any luck today, Dear?" She had a feeling it wasn't good by his body language.

"No," John replied hollowly. "I've applied to every business in town, but no one is hiring."

"You need to find something soon, or we'll have to move in with my parents."

"I know. (shudder) I Will." He dreaded the thought of living with his mother-in-law. That woman scares him more than his last boss.

Later that evening, John is sitting at their kitchen table with an opened laptop in front of him. He is playing an online multi-player game with his old college buddies. When ladykiller915 mentions that he should try running his own business online.

"Is that even legit?"

"As legit as any business in the world," ladykiller915 say as he slashes to pieces an ugly ogre in a dark cave.

Great way of putting things, Michael. Thanks for sharing.

Well said, Michael. I enjoyed reading your movie script. I like the part where the wife asks that question in disbelief. Tasty food the for the soul. Don't just think self-employed though - think entrepreneur! ~ Jude

I'm glad I'm not on the path anymore:) Great post Michael!
