Songs can trigger different emotions. It all depends on the tempo of the melody, the subjects matter of that song, and how you were feeling before and after listening to that song. But I love music that provoke me to feel empowered, like a "Boss." I love that feeling of knowing that I greater than my current circumstance and I am the master of my destiny.

So what song allows me to drift into my dream life and makes me feel like I run things?

Rick Ross ft. T-Pain ~ The Boss

In the song, Rick Ross talks about being the leader in his crew, having the latest cars, having a lot of bling, and lack of money never being an issue.

A rap song, yes, and I do not advocate things associated with the "illegal" lifestyle . I focus on what the song represents, to me. This song represents freedom . It represents living life on my own terms. Most importantly , this songs represents beating the odds. I listen to this song almost everyday because it inspires me to keep pressing on.

This song also holds a special place in my heart. My great uncle favored Rick Ross when he was younger, having the same thick beard and bald head. My great uncle was a hustler too. He moved from Ohio to California in the 1950's, by himself. After a few years of living there, he opened up 3 small convenient stores, a traveling agency, and a restaurant. He was the Boss, hooking everyone up with a job. He lived great having all that he desired. Great man, indeed.

So, I want to thank Rick Ross for The Boss because it reminds me of the hustler in me. It fuels that drive to pursue my dreams and to live life as I please. If I was in a movie, this would definitely be my theme song. I am the Boss.
