I am now at the 2 month mark after joining WA. I have found this a great site for learning and an amazing community of like-minded individuals that provide support 24/7. The past 2 months have been busy but enjoyable. I work full time as an IT professional in the energy industry. I do not have a lot of time to devote to WA and yet I look back and realize I have made so much progress.

  • Finished WA Online Entrepreneur Course. Have been listening to past Live Trainings by Jay (magistudios) and am learning a lot.
  • Learned how to create a niche site. It is up and running with 16 posts indexed. The site is secure and gaining authority.
  • Applied to two affiliate sites and have been using one site – Amazon to add affiliate links to my posts.
  • Learned how to create posts with high SEO keywords. Learned how to use the amazing tool Jaaxy for finding great keywords.
  • Learned to write quality posts that rank well. Learned things I need to do after each post published. Fetch as google, Fetch in bing, share in G+, ask for comments.
  • Since my niche is highly visual, I have decided to be active in Pinterest. Joined niche blogging groups in Pinterest and Facebook.
  • Learned how to use picmonkey to edit my photos, learned how to stage food for photos, lighting, using Basic non Auto mode of my DLSR. Using picmonkey or canva to create graphical pins for Pinterest. Posted every article on Pinterest appropriate boards and community boards
  • Learned to use Tailwind to schedule pins on Pinterest so that my profile ranking gets better. Using it free for now.
  • Learned to install and use WP recipe maker plugin so that my pins on Pinterest convert to rich pins and will have better ranking. In the process of updating my past posts to use this plugin.
  • Got contacted by Gourmet Ads for advertisement. Talked to ad agent but I decided to table it for now and contact them again when I have better pageviews.
  • Sold 2 items from my affiliate links. Probably someone who stumbled onto my site and just decided to buy other things not related to my post. Still credited to me. Got 2 more sales after that from friends and now I have fulfilled my 3 sales needed in 3 months to get approved as Amazon Associate.
  • Joined fridgg and have been posting my pictures there as well. These have been bringing some pageviews to my site.
  • Pageviews are still less than 1000 a month but increasing. Learned how to use Google Analytics/Search Console to check pageviews and search rankings and find which keywords are hitting my site. Trying not to check my Analytics every day.
  • Have gotten into a sort of schedule. I post 2 food and nutrition articles a week – Wednesday and Saturday. I do my post-publishing tasks on the same day I publish. I cook and take pictures on Saturday and Sunday. I basically plan our weekly menu around this . I wWork on my posts and edit pictires and create graphical pins at nights after dinner and early in the morning before work. I have been waking up at 5AM.
  • I try to do social media on my phone at work.
  • The thing I currently do not have time for is WA community. I have to live with this for now as my time is limited. Someday I will give back.

PLANS:

  • Sign up with Convertkit or AWeber. Create landing page/ squeeze page to collect emails. Create free PDF as an offer for my landing page. Set up automated emails for people who sign-up.
  • Continue writing content and learning to take better pictures.
  • Come up with logo for my site
  • Set up Instagram to reseve the name even though I am not using it yet
  • Create facebook business page and explore paid FB ads to launch my site. Explore paid Pinterest ads to promote my pins.
  • Monitor pageviews once a week and contact Gourmet Ads or Monumetric when ready.
  • Find local niche bloggers and meet up with them once a month or so. Make connections and network. (Yeah like I have time for this!).
  • Someday when I reach 25k views, switch to Mediavine.

So in conclusion, is WA for fun or profit? For me It is both. I picked a niche which I love and I currently enjoy working on my posts. The profit part has not started as I do have annual WA membership expenses. But I know it is coming, just a matter of time. I will keep learning and working on my site.

Thanks for reading this long post. Putting it together inspired me and I hope it inspires and motivates the newbies. This is just 2 months people! Thanks to Kyle and Carson for putting up this awesome site. Thanks to Jay Neill for the training videos and thanks to all the community members who spend a lot of time posting and helping out. Will post again in 2 months.!
