How I Easily Built My Publishing Empire Over Time

Got me to thinking about my journey and how it might help you as well.

My journey began in the mid 90's with the birth of the internet and how I started is just as relevant today as it was then.

At the time, I was working for myself as a Flooring Installer, mostly Carpet, Ceramic tile and some Vinyl. A trade that I had learned from my father, Lester H Waller, Sr.

With the arrival of the internet, I purchased a computer and one of the first things I did was to start selling on eBay. I would pick up items to sell from Auctions, Thrift stores, Antique shops...etc and sell them on eBay.

An interesting thing was buying old Catholic books for $1 and selling them for $70 or more on eBay. Book selling websites followed and it wasn't long before I published my first public domain book.

None of this interfered with my Flooring Installation work.

My easy secret or strategy was instead of coming home and watching TV after dinner, I would get on my computer and work.

It was extra money that certainly came in handy for whatever extras I wanted and it seemed more like fun than work

I initially used local Printers to publish my books. Not cheap, but doable.

Then came along Lightning Source that allowed for Print on Demand publishing. It still cost money to set up titles.

Then CreateSpace arrived and you could publish for free. It wasn't long and KDP Amazon bought CreateSpace and its also free to publish there.

When I moved to the Philippines in 2014, I had 188 titles in print.

Today, I have 1,680+ titles published and I could have even more than that if I published consistently, but there have been many months when I have published nothing since I am technically retired since I moved here at 57 years old.

Now with Melissa Jeane here, I publish more and work on other businesses as well.

So all of that simply by working instead of watching TV. Not bad if I say so myself.
