Have You Published on KDP Amazon Yet?
(Cover Photo: person holding a Kindle reader)
Hi everyone,
It may seem daunting to some, but you can create an ebook on KDP Amaon with a single page! Its a great way to start without having to learn everything all at once.
You can take a word doc and turn it into a PDF and submit it.
Don't worry when KDP Amazon warns about using a PDF. Just submit it anyway. You don't need a table of contents so just go ahead.
Now that you've done that, what else could your write about and submit?
My 1st ebook on Amazon was only 3 pages.
$1,784.67 1 selected books
Apr 20, 2009 - Jun 21, 2025
There are my earnings as of today. Not bad!
Getting published can give you credibility and authority for your business and/or expertise.
Give it a shot. Very little time to do a one page ebook.

Good morning Mel,
In answer to your question, Mel, the answer is No!
However, it's something that I have wanted to do for a long time, but literally have not got round to it. I have just sold my off-line business, which is going to open up some time for me to do more things online, which is fantastic.
Do you know that every time I think about writing a book, I think about Mel, as publishing books and Mel go together! I actually have something that I have already put together, Mel, but I need to publish it. This may sound a silly question, but where would you start for someone who has never published a book, please?
Have a great day.
Roy
Hello Mel,
Thank you for your reply, it's appreciated.
I have written it on a Word document and it is saved on my PC, I keep adding to it.

How funny, I was just thinking about how I could publish an eBook, and I thought about all the posts you've written about it, and bam! just like that this post pops up. I'm going to do it.
I have an Amazon prime account. Is that all I need, or is there another account I need to create?
Thanks for sharing this Mel, absolutely awesome stuff. It’s super motivating for a guy like me who came into KDP over a year ago with a lot of hope and has been watching the numbers grow ever since.
I’ve got nine books published right now, five of them are still ranked pretty high, and one of them hit around 12,000 at one point for a rank before it dropped, but that’s just part of the process. Still learning and building as I go.
I’ve got one more book to finish in my main series, and a few spin-offs planned after that, so your post really gave me a boost.
I’m also in the middle of working on audiobooks. I’ve almost got my first one to where I want it in terms of layout and process, but I’m still learning as I go. I’m doing everything on my own, not using any big publishers or paid ads. All my books have been made for free so far, and same with the audiobook , I’m building it myself because the quotes I got from people were so high I figured the book would need to sell for the rest of my life just to break even. Made me shake my head.
But seriously, this post was awesome. It gave me insight into where I need to focus and helped remind me I’m on the right track. Appreciate it!
Shawn
Thanks for sharing Shawn! I have not done audiobooks yet because of the costs as you have mentioned. Keep moving forward & never give up.

Sorry Mel, we’re getting a big rainfall here in Alberta right now 25 to 30 mm expected so I haven’t been able to log in properly. The platform’s been kicking me out, but it’s definitely not their fault, just the storm causing issues. Should be a fun one to ride out, haha.
And yeah, the audiobook side really does add up fast. I’ve been working on building mine for free, just figuring it out one step at a time with the tools I’ve got. Still learning as I go, but I’m sticking with it. Appreciate the encouragement, man! If I find a workaround that makes it easier, I’ll definitely let you know.
Shawn
Haha, you said it Mel! There’s been more water on the road than in my coffee pot this mornin’. Alberta’s getting a real soaking, hoping it lets up soon so I can get back into gear. 😄

Devil Dog, I think that will be my next venture, Can I get ChatGPT to help me or is there a recommended Ai that can help.

Hi Mel
I've not done this yet but it's something I'm very keen to do as I love writing and have so many things I want to publish - just not enough time in the day.
I have a 14-day ebook mini course that I wrote that I use as a lead magnet on my site which I could use which is formatted as a pdf. Could I use this, or should I format in Designrr first.
I don't know much about KDP but I'm willing to learn.
What do you think?
Gail
I have not used Designrr. It looks like you might be limited to creating an ebook which appears to be able to be used on KDP Amazon. I am not sure if you would be able to publish as a book on KDP Amazon. I might have to try the 7 day free trial to get a feel for it.
For KDP Amazon, I currently use Adobe Indesign to create my books/ebooks and some ebooks with Kindle Create.
Mel
OK, thanks. That's what I used to create the mini course I have already. So I guess I should just use that and give it a go!
Mel, do you mean you are using those for the ebook covers? Or the whole thing?
I'm not sure I understand the question.
