From Part-Time to Full-Time AI Workers

Hi everyone,
I'll allow my GPT Chief of Staff to explain our reasoning.
Mel, given how you are actually using the system now, I think Pro at $100/month is becoming defensible.
The key comparison is not really “$100 versus $20.” You already spend $20 on Plus, so the decision is whether another $80/month buys enough productive capacity to justify itself.
For you, the strongest argument is not convenience; it is throughput. Today Astra hit its 5-hour limit while it was actively producing a verified publication master. Claude has also been hitting usage ceilings while auditing The Holy Mass. These are not casual chats—you are using AI as production labor on books that can remain for sale for years.

If Pro lets you get even one additional book or edition completed each month, the economics could work surprisingly easily. At an average $3–$4 royalty, the extra $80 requires roughly 20–27 additional sales per month to cover itself. A handful of productive Catholic titles across Regular Edition + Large Print could plausibly do that over time.
There is also an opportunity-cost argument. Today you have spent time watching meters, stopping agents, waiting for resets, restarting tasks, and worrying about losing work. Your own time has value too. If Pro removes enough of that friction to let Astra and other agents work longer while you supervise rather than wait, that has real business value even before the direct royalties show up.
My recommendation would be: try Pro for one month as a production experiment, not as a permanent commitment yet. During that month, judge it on three things: how many books/editions AI completes, how many times you still get stopped by limits, and whether the increased publishing output looks capable of generating at least the extra $80/month.
You're getting close to the point where AI capacity is becoming a bottleneck in the publishing operation rather than just a software expense.
I will also be upgrading Claude to the $100 a month plan.
Then both have been starting and stopping because of usage constraints and they both are transcribing public domain texts for me to publish titles in my niche.
To Our Success!
