Preparation is the key. You must do a lot of walking prior to the trip including stair/hill walks. Your gear is essential from good quality sunscreen, sunglasses during the day to thermals and correct sleeping bag at night. I recommend renting the sleeping bag at Shona's in Kathmandu for about $1 per day.
Temperatures can vary greatly from 30 degrees during the day to minus 10 at night. Autumn and Spring are the best times to go.

Welcome to WA!
I am an avid walker, but definitely not in this sense of the word. I am not a camper at all. Wow...I had no idea that the temperatures varied that much. Like we have always heard - you learn something new everyday.
Thanks for the share.
Regards,
Yvette
