****Personal Happiness****
There was a time in my life when I wasn't so happy. I was always satisfied, because I really did have everything that I needed, but I wasn't happy. I am not sure if there was a singular event that took place which made me become a truly happy person. But...this I do know...I am happier now than I have ever been.
For the past five years, I have seemed to built an empire of happiness around me. I have surrounded myself with happy people, which means selectively choosing my friends and acquaintances. I do not allow negativity into my space...whether that is my mental space, physical space, or my emotional space.
I have learned how to tune into myself when something is making me unhappy. I take the time to reflect on it, meditate and explore the circumstances surrounding the emotion. I do this instead of pushing it aside, and burying it.
Above all....I have learned to be present and find joy in the smallest aspects of life. From seeing the sunrise in the morning...to the blue jay that made such a racket outside of my window this weekend.
During my morning walk...I always journey past a very old maple tree. As I walked by...I wondered to myself..."How does one build an empire of happiness?" Within moments...it seemed that the answer had been revealed (almost as if the tree had spoken) You build an empire of happiness...first...by knowing what you stand for. Second, by nourishing your roots. And, third...by weathering life's storms with grace and dignity.
I wish you all great happiness....always!
