Be Wary my loves...but bear in mind change is possible
So there is a new 'affiliate marketing class' being put out there right now. I'm currently 'in' it because I want to see what it's all about, and since it is just now being built, I wanted to see what was up. I originally found this place as a 'job' opening-I was 'hired' because I have IM experience and am currently getting a degree in IM...I had to fill out a W-9 and everything-but I've quickly learned that is not the case. It's a 'program' of sorts where the owner gives us an affiliate link, and has us send messages to people on social media saying something to the effect of
'hey I recently invested in a home security company. I was wondering you could click on this link and request a quote then give me some feedback: "insert affiliate link here"..'
Now, we all know this is NOT the way to do things. Or at least I hope you know it isn't. Anyway, at this point, instead of just leaving and hoping everyone in there figures it out for themselves, I've actually begun pushing the person to change the structure. And it's working. Instead of just blindly sending links to people, I've been able to teach a few people about the benefits of marketing the RIGHT way, and one is now very interested in WA. I guess the point of this post is to let you know, that just because you come across something that is scammy and seems off, doesn't mean it can't change to be something good.

I would say one thing to keep in mind is that not everyone knows they may be doing something wrong. When you look at how much spam is out there on social media and craigslist and the sort it can def. be really easy to be misled. So it is sometimes a good idea to remember that some people just have not been shown any different and are actually very open to change. thanks for the post.

Exactly. I know the person running this was shocked by some of the things I was telling him. So I'm hoping by educating them on the correct ways, and by showing him how to not spam a million people, it will help.

Good on you for helping others out :)
Thank you very much! I didn't want to leave them hanging. And I feel taking the time to help them and show them the 'right' way to do things, without spamming everyone, was just the proper thing to do.
