Worn Out

Another long week of fixing problems on my site. It seems to be never ending right now. I'm also finding the lack of traffic to my site frustrating. I think maybe I just need a couple days off, after spending at least twelve hours a day on this the last few weeks. I'm just not sure how to do that -- lol! I feel like if I take time off everything will really fall apart. Must be part of the psychology of having a brand new business and not earning money yet.

On the brighter side of things, Google accepted me to Adsense today. I've been so focused on fixing things that I forgot I'd even applied! We'll see how that goes. First I have to figure out how to get some traffic! Maybe with a couple days downtime my brain will be fresher

I visited your website and I think it looks great. I didn't see any problems. I love the free downloads and instructions. I even bookmarked your site so I can come back again. I love crafts too and have a polymer clay site, as well as one on pets so we have some things in common.

Janice has the best advice !

You have expressed the frustration that we all feel sometimes. Step away and come back with fresh eyes.

The comments about taking some time away are not only good advice but productivity research has proven this to be one of the things to do to be more productive.

You need some downtime for your brain to process things.

Also I hope your creating a list of thing that you need to do on your website ON PAPER. Working from a mental list will drain the energy out of you fast and you get the satisfaction of crossing it off when your done.

Also set a time limit on your break. Enjoy your time away but have a time your going back at it.

Hope this helps
Percy

Thanks for the advice, Percy. Yes, I am a paper list maker. (I'm a paper everything maker -- my blog is all about paper crafting,) I admit, though, I haven't been following my lists because I get side-tracked when I spot a problem. I need to stop doing that. More importantly, I think I need to make a checklist for each blog post of things that need to be done so that I can stop having to go back and fix mistakes!

I think I'm just going to take the weekend off, and start treating this like a 9 to 5 job to keep myself from burning out.

Taking the weekend off is a great idea. But I'm guessing that you will have a hard time shutting your web ideas off.

When you get a idea write it down and move on and enjoy your weekend.

Enjoy your down time.

Re Adsense I had that once and I ended up getting annoying flashing computer repair ads. Make sure you block any ads that would not fit in well with your site. I think you can do that manually unless they have changed it.

Thanks for the tip, Dennis! The ads haven't started to feed yet, but I'll be watching for problems.

Step away from the laptop!! Seriously, you need a break and you will come back much better for it :)

You mean my third arm? I wasn't sure it was detachable anymore. LOL! Seriously, I hear you. I'm working today and then going to leave the laptop off over the weekend.

Good for you - I'm good at giving out the advice but not so good at listening to myself! I know what you mean about that 3rd arm! :)

Take a break and when you come back you'll be even more inspired and determined than ever before! To your success :-)

Thanks, Serah! :-)

Thanks for the encouragement. Just to clarify, I'm nowhere near giving up. Just too tired and realizing I'm probably a hindrance to myself because of it. I'll recharge and be right back at it! :-)

Hey there. I share in your frustration of not having traffic. I'd like to share with you a little story that I keep telling myself for motivation. I have this friend, Shuli, who started a spice company around 2000...I remember his very first "office"...warehouse...I remember his business troubles, having to take loans from banks, friends...you name it. I remember when he finally opened his shop in Napa Valley and moved his warehouse to a larger building. Day after day was a struggle for him. Then after he opened that shop, finally he started to make some money, after paying somebody good money to get his website noticed etc...many many years of growth and struggle, many times he was gonna give up. Took years for him to see profit. The guy has now moved back to Israel, his shop in Napa is still open and functions well without him. He just has to take a few trips to the U.S. to maintain etc. Took about 5 years to see profit, took about 10 years to see growth, took 15 for it to become a semi-passive income. See what i mean? We've just started.
2 hours a day daily is better than knocking yourself out and burning out. Yeah, take a couple days break from this if you need. Relax, don't burn out.

Yuriy.

Thank you for this inspiration. It is a great reminder that sometimes the "long haul" is a lot longer than we imagine, but it will happen with enough time and dedication. Wishing you more traffic, and know that we will both get there!

Please don't give up, been there before, did take a couple days off, but got right back on it.

Not going to give up, but I am going to follow your example and take a couple days off before jumping back in. Thanks for the encouragement!
