ok Im still not getting my head round the actual number of websites that come up on google compared to what the wa keyword tool says there are! I get everything that's being sai

Sometimes I've found that the keyword tool actually gives you a different number. But most times, when searching google, you put the keyword in quotes and you'll get the same amount of sites as the keyword tool shows. It is essentially showing you how many sites have that exact keyword (once it's put in quotes)

Thanks for your reply. Yeah once you put it in quotes ive found the numbers tally but that's whats confusing to me.
If im targeting keywords surely my competition should be what the keyword tool says?
If that was the case when I put the exact search term in the google search bar I should only have a low level of competition not the millions that came up?
What am I missing?

Yea I don't understand that exactly either. I know when it's in quotes, it shows everyone who targets that keyword, but when it's not it shows everyone that has similar words on their website. They may be ranking just because they are trusted by Google more, or they have been around a long time, or maybe it's because they have tons and tons of content. I guess when Google trusts your site more, you'll be up there at least close to the top, even with the millions of competition. I know comments and social shares help too.

Hi, how much should the domain name of my website be relevant to my niche? For example if my niche was say Football, would I call it football.com or f

Thank you for the advice. I am still struggling with the domain name
I believe I understand-so if my niche is health specifically health and eating healthy. I am interested in a certain way of eating like gluten free however I want a broader named domain to include other types of "eating " for example like anti- aging for example.
Does this make sense?

Deborah

I think I would probably go with something broader, that way you can cover a wide range of topics. I would suggest playing around on a domain site like Namecheap, typing in various "eating healthy" phrases and/or words until you find a domain that'a available.

Thank you so much
I appreciate you taking time to answer me

thanks for the replies guys! top notch advice.

You're welcome. :)

You don't always have to choose a domain name the same as your niche, for example, a successful member here has this site http://onemorecupof-coffee.com/
Or a domain name with your own name in it, for example: ask"name"aboutfootball.com.
Depending on your niche, sometimes it's tricky to find a domain name not already taken so you have to get creative!

Hi. Your website name should be relevant to what your niche is. If your niche was football, it doesn't necessarily have to be football.com.

I would say that as long as your visitors have an idea as to what kind of website they are coming to, then you've got a good domain name.

However, keep in mind, it is your content that is going to get ranked by Google more than your domain name. Your domain name is not as important as that quality content that will bring you traffic. Don't make it too hard. :)

I would go with being as specific as possible. The more specific you are, the greater potential of reaching your target audience. I honestly wouldn't over think your domain as the content within your site will drive much more traffic than the domain name itself. As long as it is relevant, you should be good to go and the chances of the domain name being available will be better the more specific you get. Hope that helps!

Thank you all for your advice. I appreciate all the good comments and you taking the time to help me.
