To help you get through the learning maze you'll really need to put on some blinders and just forge ahead one step at a time.
There are numerous stages and steps to building an online business but it all begins with the different "stages of research" that you will have to learn how to do and implement.
Before building your website, which will ultimately be the cornerstone foundation of your online business, slow down and try to get the research steps done right the first time.
So many people who start out online think that they can jump ship and do it on their own or they lose focus because they think there must be an easier way to get things done. Believe me there isn't an easier way, it takes hard work and dedication to be successful online.
There are lots of internet marketers who have developed their own strategies that work wonders for them, however, just like riding a bike you'll need someone to support you throughout the learning curve until you feel confident enough to venture off on your own.
What should I focus on the most when starting to build my online business?
After you have decided what type of business would either interest you the most or create a passion in developing it, research will be your biggest key to success in my opinion.
Follow these few steps in doing your online business research and you'll have a much better chance for success.
Step 1. Do your Market Research to first establish if your niche selection has a big enough market audience for it to be profitable. (unless of course money doesn't interest you and your building an online business for another reason)
Step 2. Do your Keyword Research to make sure there are enough profitable keyword terms to build out the content on your site.
Step 3. Do your Article Research to ensure you can provide the best content possible to your audience that is not only original, but also engaging.
There is a search bar here on Wealthy Affiliate so once you have your ideas picked out for a niche, use the search bar and type in Market Research, Keyword Research, and Article Research.
Once you feel you have a good understanding of these three areas of online marketing you'll be set to go! Now build your website...
Step 4. Do your Traffic Research, without traffic your site is dead in the water, a virtual online business card that no one will see unless you point someone to your website address.
Spend some time researching traffic strategies that will work, it's in this area where you can waste a lot of time and money following the wrong crowds.
Although it's true that there is safety in numbers, sometimes it's better to come up with your own little traffic plans that will work for you.
Did I forget a step or two, oh yeah...Competition Research, remember your competition is really only the top ten spots in google for the keyword terms that you are targeting. Follow the Wealthy Affiliate guidelines on competition.
