Very nice job, Ann!

Jeff

Congratulations on your new niche website setup and template choice.
It truly is exciting. It is your piece of "real estate" on the internet.

The fun really begins now. You have so many opportunities to look forward too.

We wish you the very best.

Thanks so much for your welcome! I hit a roadblock while taking my Beginner`s certification training. In one of the videos it said that the most recommended homepage is a blog roll page and not a static page.

The website I am wanting to make is an ecommerce website. So in this case another format for the homepage would be necessary. What is the difference between a niche site and an ecommerce site?

I hope you can help me with this question as I have been positing it various times asking for help and haven't received an answer.

Thanks!

We often use a static HOME page. That is perfectly acceptable and a great way to get rankings for a home page. A home page blog roll is hard to get ranked well because of blogs have so many keywords rather than a static Home page that is focused.

A niche website focuses on one topic or interest.
The way I look at an ecommerce site: It is one that sells a physical product I have in inventory or drop shop so must install WooCommerece Plugin to process inventory, shipping, billing, etc. )

An ecommerce site could also be a niche site if it focuses on one product category. For example: Tops for tall women. Visitors will know if that is what they are looking for, they should come to my site because I give them a lot of options and I detail the features so they know what they are giving. Ecommerce sties focus more on selling - presenting their merchandise so it is easy to view, see the description, and buy.

A niche website provides much more detail about a "product category or niche". Visitors like sites like this because they can learn "how to" "guides" "instructions" "Pros Cons". Niche websites focus on helping people find, understand and make decision. Along with the help, these sites will provide "best of xxx", the top 5 xxxx. It does not have the appearance of a store layout like Amazon, Macys, etc.

Affiliate Marketers like the niche approach because they want to help people learn about their interest, and help them find a solution for their problem. That way an AM does not have to be a general specialist. An AM will not set up their website as a "store" generally because they are not a store'. They do not handle the product or billing or customer service . They just provide helpful information to the point of "getting" a visitor to take action on a product shown with their "Helpful Advice". Affiliate Networks provide the link coding to use for the selected products. The link code has a special ID code so when a product is purchased the owner of the niche website gets credit for the sale and gets paid a commission.

Does that help?

Yes definitely helps a lot. Thank you so much! Now I understand more the difference between an ecommerce site and a niche site. The website that I just started creating in my Beginners training is an ecommerce site. Honestly, would you say that WA is the right platform to do that? Or should I try out something like Shopify that is totally about Ecommerce?

I would still be a member of WA because I want to have a niche website as well and I also want to be a WA affiliate.

Honestly, should I discontinue my Beginners training on WA with my ecommerce store and try another platform?

And then create a second website where I can help people and gain by affiliate sales like you said (Niche website).

I would so appreciate your honest opinion on these subjects. You can private message me if you'd prefer.

Thanks so much!

Congrats! Huge milestone! Many more to come!
