First Blog Post
Hey everyone, just writing my first blog post to kind of go over my progress so far. So I joined WA in the middle of September, and have been working to try and create a site on PS4 gaming (closetgamerhq.com). I like what my website is about, but I feel like I've chosen a niche that has too much competition. It's hard sometimes to log in and see that my sites aren't getting ranked higher or that no one is clicking on my site. And while I will agree that this takes time, it doesn't help that its still a bit saddening.
I've made goals to post at least 1 article either daily or once every two days, I feel like this is a pretty consistent goal. I've also tried to complete at least 1 or two trainings a day and request 1 comment and 1 feedback for me site (thus providing 4 comments/feedback).
I like what I'm covering and I like how much I'm learning. I understand this road is long so I'm going to keep working. If anyone has any tips for me that'd be greatly appreciated!

Hi! Thanks for following me. I'm following you now and am very impressed with your schedule. Good luck and welcome to WA. Katherine
Well done for getting your site up and running. It can be disheartening if you don't get the clicks. I had a look at your site and here are some tips.
1. Change your theme. I click on your site and the whole screen is taken up with that picture. In order to see the content of your site, I have to scroll down or click - why would I bother? You have to have the most important information above the fold - yours isn't!
2. What are you offering on your site? If it is reviews - you actually have to give a proper product review - with the good and the bad and your recommendation. You don't do that. I don't want to be too harsh but that is one of the reasons why you are not getting the visitors or clicks. Posting every couple of days is no good unless you have something genuinely useful for your potential customers.
3. Rewrite your about Closet HQ page - totally confusing. You say this is a site to share - I thought others were going to be posting. You also make it sound as if there are lots of people running the site - it's odd.
4.Change that disclosure - "One day I'll be able to buy a game on sale" - this makes you sound like a loser - which you are not!
5. Change the tag line - makes it look like a site for boys only and you should shove a key word in it - which would be far more useful.
6. Keywords - I don't know what you are using but I do not get a sense you are coming through with them
Sorry to sound brutal. You should be proud of yourself that you have got this far, but now you need to make some changes.-
Good luck
Beverley
Thanks for the feedback Beverly. And no worries about being harsh, it is definitely needed.
1. In terms of the theme, I will look around and find one that I like.
2. I will update the posts to reflect this tip. Thanks for that information.
3-5. I've gone ahead and made the changes.
6. As of right now, I am still confused on how to use the keywords. Do you have any tips for me or tutorials? I search the keywords on the WA keyword tool and use them in the title and posts, but leave the meta part empty (as per the training).
Thanks,
Matt
