I've Been Ignoring Google Plus for Too Long

I've been blogging for a while now, so I know about the importance of social media for sharing blog posts.

I shared on Facebook and got a pretty decent following ... until FB changed things up so that now you basically have to pay them to get people to see anything you post. I've all but abandoned them.

I got a halfway decent following on Twitter and post there pretty regularly because it's just so darn simple (although they seem to be going the way of FB now - "here, add a sponsored tweet to get more views").

I developed a pretty decent following on Pinterest too (and am still continuing to build my Pinterest account). I love creating the pins and looking through all the other pins people post ... maybe a little too much. I waste a lot of time there. The latest update has been wreaking havoc with my views. The upswing that I was seeing after the major landslide is tapering off now. Still, posting on Pinterest is free, and it's fun. So I'm not ready to abandon it yet.

And I've just recently discovered the beauty of StumbleUpon. I ignored it for years until I realized that, with just a few minutes a day, I could turn it into my #1 source of blog traffic!

But the one thing I've ignored for years now is Google Plus!

I'll be honest: At first, I didn't understand it. I had no idea what I was doing, or why sharing on Google Plus was even important. As Kyle mentioned in the training for Course 2, Lesson 9, Google itself doesn't make it very clear.

But that training convinced me that I was missing out on something really important in terms of getting my site indexed and ranked. I want to be on Google, so why would I ignore Google Plus?

Now I'm determined to engage more with my followers and with the posts of the people I'm following, in the hopes that they will in turn engage more with my content. And I'm going to start posting on Google Plus EVERY DAY. I've got over 30 blog posts I haven't shared there yet. I think it's about time I gave them a little extra Google love.

What do you think? Have you started using Google Plus to share your latest blog posts? How has it worked for you?

My main social networks are FB and Pinterest. But I share every new post on Google Plus and got some visitors from it.

More on my radar., It's a great enhancement on the original!

This is a great idea. I'll try it too.
