2 year mark

Well, I am re-writing this because somehow my last post disappeared off my page. Anyway, I have been managing two sites now for about 2 years since I first did the WA training.

I am not where I wished I would be revenue-wise. But, I have not given up. I did get frustrated and very disappointed about 6 months ago and basically stopped putting up new content. I was burnt out.

In this business you have to work for free for at least 3-5 years before you start seeing any decent revenue. I say this based on research. WA will not tell you this.

They also will not give you any stats on pass or fail here. They are trying to make a living too.

I wish WA would have laid it out more realistically regarding just how difficult affiliate marketing is if you want to make it a full time job and earn enough money to pay bills.

Only 3% succeed and I am not really sure what success means as far as how much income you have to earn every month to be 'sucessful'.

I do know that its NOT been me. WA will not tell you that most people including you are going to fail.

You have to work and write good content basically every day or every other day to get more traffic.

I have over 150 articles on both of my sites and when new Users come to my site none of them read and scroll all the way to the 150th. So, my content is there, but not always seen. So instead of writing new content, I am going back and updating the old articles with new recent dates so that they get seen.

This has been working, however I still am not getting the traffic I need.

I use Amazon Associates mainly for my 4K TV advice site. Also, I have an Adsense account on this one and earn about $100 a month. I also use Content Ad for click ads and thats about it.

Amazon gives me the most potential since they pay commission per item a User buys. My hope was that people buying 4K TVs would reap me higher commissions, but of course they lower the percentage for higher end 4K UHD TVs.

I am not angry with WA, because their training is very good and they are the best at getting people into this business.

However, WA started over 10 years and at that time affiliate marketing was fairly new. So, the success rate was much higher. There was a lot more potential at that time.

Today, things are completely different. There are over 3 million other websites in your niche who are trying to get ranked high up on google search results just like you.

If their site is older and they use SEO for a higher ranking chances are you are going to get beat out. Especially if you are new or your site is 2 years old or less.

Its just extremely difficults to succedd at this business in today's world. WA will not tell you this at all. I wish they were more upfront and realistic, but I do realize they are trying to make a living just like the rest of us.

WA is surviving on new members. New members who they get excited about affiliate marketing and do all the training and pay for the first year. Then, when they dont make a dime by the end of the first year, my guess is that 98% of them quit and do not renew.

Therefore, WA has an income based only off new members signing up.

After two years and now entering my 3rd year, I have not given up. But, I am simply unsure what the future holds. Do I get in to another online business? Or, do I keep putting up new content and writing and following their training? I just do not know. The reason I dont know is because I have not seen much revenue after many, many months of hard work, writing and time. All done for free.

I Use Amazon to earn commissions off products my Users buy., I also have an Adsense account on my 4K TV advice website. I got kicked off adsense on my other charity site where I provide helpful information for Opiate Addicts because they said I clicked my own ad too many times.

Adsense is very strict so never, ever click on their ads on your site.

I make about $100 from adsense acount and about $200 a month from Amazon commissions. I also have a Content.ad click program that earns a few bucks every month.

I have not done much except change the dates on my articles on my site to move the ones dated far back to the front.

You see, when Users come to my site and you have over 200 articles you have written, NONE of them are going to scroll to the 100th articles and read it. Actually, they will never see that article far back or even know it exists.

So, update the dates of your articles to recent dates so they appear on the first few pages of your main home page. I keep doing this instead of writing new stuff.

I have a wave of motivation right now, so I will begin writing and putting up new content and getting them posted on my 8 different social media sites.

I might also start paying for google search screen ads again. They are affordable and do bring great traffic. You do have to spend money to make money in this business.

I suggest people write a 5 year business plan and follow this like any other start up company. Do obtain capital and do spend money on marketing if you want to succeed faster.

Keep you posted and as always, NEVER GIVE UP.

great post Matty. Thanks for being so honest about the amount of hard work required to be successful in this business. You are right of course. You need to post fresh content almost daily and write new articles for a very long time before you start seeing results. Thanks for sharing. I hope your results double soon.
