Day 1, Excited and Overwhelmed

Well, I have been thinking about starting an online business for a few years, I like the idea of making money even when you're not at work, and then eventually more income streams, and more life freedom.

I am a pharmacist by training so I foresee some of that knowledge and experience being intertwined in my site, but I would like other areas too. I am very interested in health and fitness, bodyweight training, home workouts, martial arts, and product reviews like apparel, etc.

My father in law ran a shoe service company for many years, they had multiple locations in grocery stores, then as internet expanded their business declined. His brother kept going that direction even though my father in law told him that markets were changing and they needed a different approach to stay profitable.

He modified actions and started using Amazon and online things and sold all kinds of shoe related things and took several trips to China to work with suppliers, etc. He had tons of funny stories and weird stories related to culture clashes, etc. but he learned a lot by taking a new direction with his company.

Once a manufacturer was adamant that it was 'not possible' that one of the insoles wasn't made correctly, or sized /colored right. After arguing back and forth, the man in China went to physically look at the machine. He came back and said, "oops, machine not plugged in."

I thought about Amazon FBA, affiliate marketing, real estate or sandwich lease option sales, home business, etc., but due to busyness and 'just not feeling it' was unsure what path to take. I read posts by Amazon FBA folks who did lots of work, were partially successful, then would hit roadblocks from Amazon that were out of their control, or false reviews, negative reviews, and lots of hassles.

I responded to a Facebook ad about an affiliate marketing company, paid $99, but reading reviews about that guy's program I found he would have you pay MUCH more for the actual program, at least $1000, and several thousands more, right at the front end.

In a review, another site mentioned Commission Academy, so I went there and signed up, and they directed me here, so here I am! (thank you sirs)

I have created and posted various videos to Youtube about kung fu, bodyweight training, firearms, and some apparel videos, etc. I actually enjoy doing that, taking pics, making video, and doing evaluations. My Helly Hansen Seven J jacket review has more than 21,000 views, and another when I changed my Mazda tail light (25,000 views). It can be awkward doing videos at first, and then doing re-takes when you mess up, but I know the more I do them I'll get better.

If I can create a website to evaluate products, analyze, also some education, etc. and actually get money for doing that, well shoot that sounds very cool. :)

I figured it could be good for me to make a 'ground floor' blog post so I can look back and see where the programs and business takes me.
