Ok so I recently paid someone to write an article for me. She did a really good job. I only want to make some minor changes but it was sent to me in a word file. I like her pic

you could take a picture of it - but you will lose all that seo work.
could you copy down to the first picture then use the snipping tool to make a picture of the rest of the post?
the best way it to copy and paste the text, upload the pictures and reformat.
or how about save word doc as html and import -
try html import 2 plugin
hope it works
phil

update - i have just tried docxpresso with an open office file and it works - pictures the lot!! including tables - this is going to save me a load of time - thanks for asking !!
phil

Is this just a WP plugin?

yes it is - should cover word and open office

Nice. This sounds like it may be the answer to my question. Im reading a tutorial on it now. Hoping I can just drop the file in and have it convert it to a post with images and all. Im not WP saavy enough to make it look as good as she made it look in Word so Id really like to keep the integrity of her work

should work - install the plugin and use the docexpresso button in the post to insert the word doc - this is all i did for the open offoce doc!!
good luck hope it works for you
phil

I get pictures and bullets, but NO text?!? Any ideas?

wayne, what are you doing?
need more info to help

I actually switched themes and it worked fine. Got word art, formatting, text and pics in my post. Guess it wasn't fully compatible with that other theme.

glad you got it sorted - frustrating not all themes are alike
thanks for the follow

phil

No problem! Thanks for the help!

You can paste it in plain text from word, so the html code of Word and WP doesn't conflict
Here you find the plain text button You have to load up pictures to your library, otherwise, they do not show up

Are you sure that you ould not get the pictures if you copy and paste? I have copied and pasted pictures on my site.

Yeah it copied I link instead of a picture. I havent actually published it yet because I wanted to do some adjusting. Is it possible that link will show as a picture when I publish? Or will I need to have that image in my library

You can simply copy and paste and later adjust in WP. :)

I have uploaded all images into my websites library the same way each time. I probably have a good 70 of them in there now. But today I tried to add 3 more. Each the same way a

Try changing the file name of the images on your computer to a short name with only letters and numbers - no punctuation (except .jpg) or special characters or spaces.

If that doesn't work then move the images to your desktop so the path to the images is shorter.

I USE GMEDIA GALLARY AND I HAVE LOADS OF PICS AND NOT A PROBLEM.....AS THE OTHERS HAVE SAID CHECK SIZE, NAME AND .???

ALSO CHECK THAT YOU HAVE NOT REACHED YOUR WEBISTE SIZE LIMIT WITH WA?

DID YOU CONTACT SUPPORT YET?

XOXOXO TO YOU AN YOURS

It's either folder permission issues or you could try to search for the image that you have uploaded that displayed the error.

Another possibility could be you are using some image optimizing plugin that is causing the error. What's your current Wordpress version?

Have you some comma' s in the file name? Rename it without any numerics, just use characters

Make sure they are compatible with WA. Example .jpg etc.

I recently changed themes to one I like a lot more. www.TheRatRaceSolution.com if you'd like to see it. However now in my dashboard it is recommending 4 different plugins for t

I would only add a plugin if it makes sense and you are going to use it. It will not "harm" you to not install the plugins, you just won't be able to have the full functionality that the site was meant to have however most of the time it is stuff you don't need anyway. I have used themes and not installed the "recommended" plugins just because it wasn't necessary.

IF YOU WANT THEM I WOULD ADD THEM AND SEE WHAT DIFFERENCE IT MAKES TO THE ACTUAL LOAD TIME OF THE SITE.....
IF YOU LIKE THEM AND LOAD TIME IS THE SAME THEN I DONT SEE THE HARM IN KEEPING THEM.....AS MEL SAID IT MAY IMPROVE THE OVERALL EXPERIENCE OF THE THEME.....

THATS JUST ME THOUGH :-0))

XOXO TO YOU AND YOURS

It will scare you on site health but if they are needed to make the theme function you have no choice. If the site still loads quick you are in good shape.

Well, the only 'danger' I see is that you will lose the functionality that is brought by the plug-in, i.e., gallery to sell photos, etc (I have no idea what theme it is). What you can do is load up the plug-ins and then check your site health in SiteManager, and choose to deactivate the ones you can live without (or that might be duplicated by plugins you're already using).

Does the site health take anything into account other than total number as far as for the plugin score? I only ask cause we added a 5th before my score went down so I deactivated a different one and it went back to 100%

I don't know about that.

Can someone help me understand something? When putting the social media icons on your page, do you need to have an account for all of them? Or is it so someone can tweet it or

Nope those are for others to easily share to their own accounts

HEY MATT, I WAS NOT VERY TWITTER FRIENDLY (STILL HAVE A WAYS TO GO) BUT REALLY HELPED ME AND NOW I ACTUALLY LIKE TWITTER :-)) I WOULD SAY GO FOR IT, GET ONE, YOU CAN ALWAYS DELETE THE ACCOUNT IF YOU DONT LIKE IT :-)) XOXO TO YOU AND YOURS XOXO

Matt twitter is a good tool. But like any tool if you do not use it it will not help. I would concentrate on the social platforms that are giving you the best results. Get them going well and then add twitter or whatever you would like. There are only so many hours in a day.

You have follow buttons and share buttons, you need a share button only then

It's for others to tweet/post your article. I also use them to post to my accounts, but the primary use is for the readers to share you information. I'd still recommend getting a Twitter account though.

Hi in my website for promoting WA I was thinking I wanted a static homepage that sort of explains the purpose of my site. Does anyone have any insight as to whether this is ok

It is your choice whether you want a static page or blog roll, both can work good. :)

STATIC HOME PAGES ARE ALWAYS GOOD TO HAVE...........EVERGREEN INFO IS GOOD AND SHOULD BE ON A STATIC HOME PAGE....

DID YOU SEE JAYS VIDEO ON THIS SUBJECT ?

HERE IS THE LINK IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A LOOK HE REALLY GOES INTO STATIC V BLOG ROLL

If you have a clear idea about what you want to say, I would say give it a try. The list of blog posts is a good default option if someone can't think of what to put on the front page.

It all depends on what message you are passing over to your audience, information or instruction as in a landing page. If the website is informational and subject to constant change then use posts as a blog roll otherwise static pages.

Derek

You will never have a consensus about this. In may case 2 of my sites are much faster with the blog roll as the home page and this is the only reason for keeping it that way. In 2 other sites I have static pages.
