Arthur,aka AGOgden has inspired me to right this blog this morning.

Good job I took the time and the interest to read his message.:)

A man called Belbin made a long study of the best mix of personal characteristics in a group.He listed eight roles which are needed in a group. One person can sometimes do two,but rarely more.A group without someone doing each of these roles will perform below its best on most complex tasks or problems .

1. The Chairman; the co-ordinator. Disciplined, focused and balanced rather than brilliant or creative, he or she is a good listener and a good judge.

2. The Shaper; the task leader. Full of drive, achievement and passion, he or she can be oversensitive and irritable but provides the spur to action.

3. The Plant; the ideas person. Introverted and quite but intellectually dominant. Sensitive and easily hurt, he or she can also be careless of detail and can switch off.

4.The monitor- evaluator; the critic. He or she has the abilities to see the flaw in an argument, is analytically intelligent and often slightly less involved than the others.

5.The resource investigator; the popular extrovert. The salesman, diplomat, the liaison officer who brings new ideas , contacts to the group although he or she doesn't do much with them personally.

6.The company worker; the practical organizer, who turns ideas into tasks, schedules and plans, an administrator rather than leader.

7. The team worker;the building force. He or she is uncompetitive but committed, likeable, good at listening and good at building bridges between people.

8. The finisher; the one who worries about schedules, deadlines and completion. Without him or her the task might never be finished because people would always want to make it better or just keep going.

I think we can't do everything and that's okay, because there is always someone else more suitable to that area. This I feel takes a lot of pressure and time available off people and you can relax and get on with the work you feel good at.

'To try to have peace everywhere and and do everything is the sort of task that only gods should take on; lesser mortals would be wise to set less ambitious goals lest they feel forever frustrated'.

and for me 'like the Irish man you can know what you think about many matters only when you hear what you say or see what you write!'
