Turmeric is a spice with a peppery flavour and a mild smell. It’s orange in color and turns food a red orange. Turmeric is extremely healthy and great as a remedy to many illnesses.

Let's go over the advantages of adding turmeric to your diet for different ailments and diseases.

Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory and can help reduce joint and muscle pain. It works like hydrocortisone.

Treat Bowel Disease

This refers to Crohn’s, Irritable Bowel Syndrome or Ulcerative Colitis. By taking more turmeric, you can reduce the symptoms. The anti-inflammatory nature of curcumin allows your digestive system to work better.

Relieve Your Arthritis

Turmeric tackles arthritis through its antioxidant characteristics. It neutralizes free radicals. Your bones and muscles react as normal. By doing so, it reduces pain and inflammation and eventually it prevents causing damage to bones and joints.

Prevent Some Cancers

The antioxidant factor of turmeric helps stop cellular and DNA damage. The mutations of DNA can be caused by free radicals. Increasing turmeric, can help possibly prevent some cancers from occurring.

Lowers Cholesterol

Struggling with high cholesterol levels, and wondering how you can go about protecting your heart with your diet? This was one of my health problems. Along with reducing my intake of saturated fats, I reduced my cholesterol by increasing my turmeric intake. Within 6 months, my cholesterol dropped 20 points.

From the tumeric in your system, it stops the liver from creating too much bad cholesterol, and creates good cholesterol. If you use vegetables and turmeric when cooking your meals, you will certainly see the benefit.

Lower Blood Pressure

As well as reducing your cholesterol, turmeric can stop the oxidization of cholesterol in your body. This in turn protects blood vessels and the build-up of plaque that cause high blood pressure.

High cholesterol can cause blood clots. Increase your cardio along with turmeric to see the best benefit.

Turmeric can also help with protecting your heart, keeps your liver healthy, reduces the chance of leukemia, fights prostate cancer, prevent colon cancer, relieves stomach pain, and so on and so on.

BOTTOM LINE:

You need to do your research and make your own judgement, as to whether turmeric is right for you and you may want to contact your physician. But, for me, this spice has helped lower my cholesterol, along with lifestyle changes, and has dramatically reduced my arthritic pain.

Hi Mary!
I love to add turmeric to my chili or spaghetti meat as one of the most important spices of my meal. I have Leaky Gut Syndrome and it helps my stomach feel better. When I eat healthy, I feel good!

I, too, try to eat healthy and use natural pure supplements. I love my Vitamin Packs, a personalized assessment that outlines your daily needs. https://lifethroughnature.com/custom-vitamin-packs-review.

Thanks for this post, Mary. I don't have blood pressure or blood sugar problems, but I do have degenerative joint disease and degenerative disc disease in my neck due to an injury in a car accident in the 70s. I also have osteoarthritis in several joints, especially my hands. I take turmeric for both of these, and I believe that it also helps with my fibromyalgia pain as well. Carol

I too have spinal stenosis and degenerative disc disease due to an accident in the 70s. I also have arthritis. I find turmeric along with cbd oils gets me through.

Isn't our community amazing? It seems like I have something in common with almost everyone I've met on here! I haven't tried cbd oils, but have read that it does help with pain. I also use magnesium for muscle spasms that also helps the headaches as well as leg cramps that wake me up at night. Carol
