My Commission Journey - Small Successes Keep You In The Game

Hey, someone's got to do it!

Back in late January of this year I blogged when I received my first commissions (3 in one day totalling $171.85US). This came smack bang on the 3-month mark as suggested if one follows the Wealthy Affiliate training. Those commissions basically paid for my WA training and site hosting etc. So, I was in the black and happy about it.

At that point, I was thinking 'right, here we go, we're off'!

Panicked

But, it was quiet again for almost 2 months and I was starting to get a little antsy and questioning whether I should persist with this game.

I had (and have) been panicking a bit too as I had moved my website in early March also. I was doing this a little blind not really having the technical ability. So, for me it was stressful and scary. As a result of this move, any momentum I had gained in those first 5 months seemed to have been lost. There were all sorts of problems happening with the redirection not working and so my traffic and clicks was almost non-existent.

I was also second guessing the decision to amalgamate a couple of ideas to include on the one site. Had I somehow cheapened my site or weakened its credibility and authenticity? Would it lose its appeal? Site feedback had been great - what had I done....arghhh. Perhaps I shouldn't have moved it after all?

Anyway, I am hoping I have now resolved the redirection issue (in the last two weeks) and things will start to improve.

On top of that I have not worked on my site for the past two weeks (work and lack of time getting in the way) after being consistent for almost 6 months. So, this was also worrying. I didn't want all of my hard work to have gone to waste and I really wanted this to become a viable income stream over time.

The Small Success I Needed

Then on 20 March I earned an Amazon commission of $1.39 and Adsense commission for March of $5.45. I have to admit, I wasn't as over the moon as I was previously but I reminded myself that I really should be grateful. And, so I was.
Then, this morning (some 3 weeks later) I once again awoke to a lovely surprise (and it was a surprise), another commission of $103.95. Such a relief!

So, at approximately the 6-month mark I have earned $282.64US ($445.11AU).

Thought this might not seem alot, I think it's not too bad considering I've written only 42 posts, had a site move, very little traffic and little activity on my part this past fortnight.

I'm not advocating not working on your site regularly but it is testament to the passive income potential.

So though these commissions would be deemed I suppose as small successes, they mean alot and are indicative of potential. There is more to come and I expect my earnings to increase exponentially. I trust the process.

The Tide Will Turn

I have to finish by saying that it can get a little disheartening at times. I have certainly felt that. We all want to see reward for time, effort and money.

All I can say is that it can, does and will change. Change is all we can actually rely on and this can be a positive thing if we allow it to be. The tide will turn - it always does, without fail.

If you are patient enough (hold your mettle), the small successes will keep you in the game long enough to experience the big successes (whatever that means for you). I believe that.
