Suggestions for an old guy?

In January 2019 I'll be 64 yrs old.

OK, now that I got that out of the way...are there any suggestions from the community on how a "mature" person persues niche marketing vs. the way a "whiper snapper" approaches niche marketing?

What do we old folks tend to do wrong when it comes to niche marketing that we should change?

Are there assumptions we oldies make about niche marketing that don't reflect reality?

What should we mature folks focus on, reaching out to fellow matures or try to reach millinials, Xers, Yers or stick to Baby Boomers?

Martin

Hi, Martin.
Paul Mindra here from Ontario, Canada.

There are going to be many suggestions from the community regarding how a "mature" perceives niche marketing vs. the way a "whipper snapper" approaches niche marketing?

Some other sites that should be looked at for your audience include and are not limited to:

Income 24
Affilorama
Solo Built it
and there a few more.

These are Just a few, Let me know what you come across on more sites that are trying to accomplish what has already been accomplished here at Wealthy Affiliate.

Kindest regards,

Paul.

First of all Martin, you're not old! (Remember, You're only as old as you feel) I'm 69 and feel like I'm 40. (I just don't look my age.) My WA profile pic was posted at 68. Regarding your niche, post whatever you feel good about. As WA says 'your passion'. Many out there will relate.

Thanks for the comment. What does keep me young is my 4 yr old grandson spends Friday night and Saturday. While he runs us ragged, he keeps us young!

Hi, Martin, one of the great things about the internet is that it doesn't discriminate, at the end of the day affiliate marketing is about letting our content speak for us, and we are basically promoting and selling services and products.

If we are doing niche then fishing is fishing, it crosses many age barriers, like most niches. It is about researching what folks are buying, and where they are hanging out hopefully on your website.

The thing is we probably know more about our age demographic so that is a good place to start, we know the wants and desires.

Drilling down into a niche is the key, so the 25 to 30 somethings are into going fast downhill for the 50 to 60 somethings it may be a memory, I know snow is soft but I can not afford to get injured, style of things.

Each subset has different purchasing habits.

Alex, thanks for a great comment! Being at WA for a year now, I'm still learning a lot...I tend to write things down more to keep track as there are so many nuances to the internet and marketing.

I've got 10 years on you, soon to be 11. You don't seem like any whippersnapper to me. It's all mindset!

Thanks Mike! I seem to have good genes as most folks think I'm in my mid-50s. I really enjoy your posts with the great graphics that you incorporate.

Well...64 is not old in my book! The answer depends on what you want to write about...either way works.

Debbie, it's a continuing learning from experience and help from the folks at WA

I'm 60 and loving all WA has to offer
Dig in and work hard, learn all the training offered and you will be on your way Martin
Wishing you lots of learning and a fun and successful journey
Vicki

Thanks Vicki! I'll keep at it. I know it takes time.

Awesome Martin and all the very best
Vicki

I think you could go either way...reaching out to peers, or reaching out to younger folks as a 'mature expert'. Lot's of people don't have mentors that they can trust. You could become that person in your desired niche. Most of all I think writing in a conversational style you will be able to relate to anyone you choose!

Good luck!

Thanks for the comment Johanna! I'm getting my toes wet in social media to help my site along.

You're welcome! I have actually been 'off' of social media for 2 years and am slightly dreading the idea of jumping back in, but will do so for the sake of business...
