Pictures with alt descriptions or tags?

I have a lot of pictures of products that I'm offering to visitors to my website. Should I include for each picture a meta tag? If so, should it be my keywords?

The Alt text is a bit more important for search engines.
The meta tag doesn't carry real SEO value anymore. But of course, won't hurt ... And yes, in both cases is recommended to include your keyword(s)
Thank you! I wasn't sure if having an alt text for 200+ items would cause an issue.
