I left my heart in Marina Del Rey.
Almost 16 years ago, I won the lottery. Like many 20-something year olds, I was too dense and full of idealistic ideas to understand what I actually won. I thought winning the lottery came with big fanfare, a huge check with my name on it, and lots of Congrats from lottery officials and long lost cousins.
But, my lottery came when a quiet, silent powerful man handed me his heart in Marina Del Rey. A man that had two of everything, yet he somehow managed to not just memorize; but live and breathe a Christmas gift freely given.
Just reflections on the eve of a 16th anniversary of the day I won the lottery, but like many lottery winners I blew through my treasure not appreciating what I had until it was gone. Here is hoping to be Blessed with at least 16 more years to fill my heart and mind with gratitude and appreciation for every moment of a connected and purpose filled life.
To our WA future!
