Why I’m Revamping in 2025
One thing I’ve always believed in — whether in life or business — is the importance of building on a strong foundation. When I first started my site years ago, I was in no rush.
And maybe that's partly my island roots coming out but I took the time to learn, to build properly, and to make sure the groundwork was solid.
That mindset has carried me through. Like the wise man who built his house upon the rock, my site has continued to stand even through seasons when I wasn’t able to give it my full attention. And for that, I’m grateful — not only to myself for slowing down and focusing on the foundation, but also to the people here at WA who encouraged me both publicly and privately when I needed it and honestly, when no one else was.
I specifically remember one time, even though I don't frequent Live Chat a lot, I did this time to specifically seek advice on how long I was taking to write articles. I am a very...very meticulous person so it takes me extra long to do things and it was frustrating to see others who had started at the same time as me publishing multiple articles before I even completed one. That's pretty much what I said in the chat that day too.
And realize that I was pretty frustrated. There was a lot of pressure for quick results irl too. Arguing. Shaming. Life in general...
I don't remember their names but there was a guy and a lady on at the time and they both had been in this business for a while. They both encouraged me to keep writing details and things that others overlook so that's what I did.
And you know what? That's the exact article that still ranks high to this day and I'll always remember that conversation, even though I'm still apprehensive about Live Chatting, if I hadn't received this encouragement I might have also given up. Because even my hubby who had originally introduced me to the idea in the first place was starting to give up on me too.
But this year, 2025, I’m taking everything I’ve learned and applying it with fresh focus. My goal isn’t just to put out more content, but to create a site that’s more helpful, more organized, and more aligned with the needs of my readers.
For me, that means:
- Creating hubs so visitors can find what they need without feeling lost.
- Using query searches to target posts and guide readers to the most relevant answers.
- Adding buttons and tables to make choices clearer and more interactive.
These tools don’t just make a site look good , they create a stronger user experience, which in turn builds more trust.
And here’s the part I want to emphasize: none of this is starting from scratch. The foundation is already there. What I’m doing now is reinforcing it, building smarter, and aligning it more with my vision of long-term value.
I know it can be tempting to rush — to want quick wins and overnight success. But if there’s one thing my journey has taught me, it’s this: a strong foundation lasts. Even when the spotlight fades, what’s built on rock will still be standing.
That’s why my message to anyone reading this, especially to the mothers, the creators, the women of color navigating spaces where we sometimes feel overlooked, is simple: don’t despise the slow seasons. Use them to build your foundation. Learn, do, refine. Success will come, but lasting success comes from what’s underneath ✊🏾.
So as I revamp in 2025, I’m not just excited about what’s ahead for my site. I’m excited about helping others slow down, focus on their foundations, and build something that will last.
Question for you:
Have you ever slowed down on your site to focus on structure or foundation, instead of just chasing content output? If so, what difference did it make for you?

I have been here only 4 months now so I am still where you were at when you were beginning. I take about one week to edit every post or page so I can not post more than once a week. And I also go back to previous posts quite often to throw in a keyword or photo every so often. I am not so far as to learn graphs and buttons yet. I just have a very few affiliate links right now. 🤔 MAC.
This all sounds great! If one article a week is what you can do then keep it up. I used to feel badly but there's everything to feel good about it. You are doing great and they will add up just the same.
Keep doing what your doing and keep tracking your progress. Your growth and knowledge add up equally as steadily.
An organized site would be like a table of contents within a book. This would be on my to do list to ensure readers can find categories of articles they are searching for on my website. I’ll get there but first I need to create at least 50 blog posts and eventually categorize them into folders. Much learning to do. Thanks for sharing your article.
This is exactly what I'm doing with all my site now because I feel it has become something of a monster that needs taming. All your advice is very sound, and instead of just adding to the 'pile', I'm sifting, sorting and labelling so my audience can find what they need easily.
Great post. Thank you.
Gail
That sounds like a great plan. Yes, I'm doing the same. Maybe you can also use query searches to create more targeted resource pages. All the best with sorting out your site and keep it up!
