The very "Best" cleaner for your Contact Lenses

We all have had great experiences in life and then there are those times where we have experiences that we perceive as not so great or downright painful. I have found that all life's experiences can be learning opportunities. When we turn any experience we go through into a learning opportunity for growth then it is all good.

Practicing optometry for the past 18 years, I have had many interesting patient encounters that can make one scratch one's head.

Like the patient I had that wore his contact lenses for 3 consecutive months without removing them and almost went blind (and he did this twice and then suggested that he sue me and then split the winnings with me).

Then there was the person who called me one day asking me if the cleaner she was using for the past ten years for her Rigid Gas Permeable contact lenses was something okay to use. When I asked her what she was using her answer was GASOLINE!!!! She told me that she could not find a better cleaner to remove the grime from her lenses. Well, I told her that it may be a good cleaner but she just might find her self blown up one day and perhaps she should consider not using that any longer.

I could share many more crazy patient stories (perhaps I will in another post).

What we can learn from these stories is that when we are not willing to humble ourselves to learn from others and from our life's experiences then we may just get into some trouble, and at worst may even blow up.

The patient who insisted on sleeping with his contact lenses for months on end and then jokingly offers to sue me and share the winnings (he was an attorney actually), the patient who is so sure of herself as to use gasoline for years in such a dangerous way are just two examples of the human nature of wanting to be so self reliant as to neglect common sense.

It is when we think we know it all and are blind to the fact that we can and should learn from others and our life's happenings to better ourselves that we truly do ourselves a disservice, often times not even realizing it.

What I love so much about Wealthy Affiliate is that it is a community that welcomes growth and learning. We are willing to offer our knowledge and help to anyone who seeks it. There is no question that is stupid other than the question that is not asked. There is never a reason to feel stupid for not knowing something.
