NASA's probe, Juno, has started sending back some of the most detailed images of Jupiter we've ever seen. Including the southern aurora, never before seen, and images of huge storms over it's poles.

But did you also know that there are three passengers aboard the Juno probe? One is Jupiter (the god), one is Juno (Jupiter's wife) and one is Galileo, who made some ground breaking discoveries while observing Jupiter. It's 4 largest moons are named "Galilean moons" after him, and because of them, the fact that not everything revolved around the Earth came to light.

You can read more and see the pictures of the three intrepid LEGONAUTS here if you're interested: http://whenthestarscomeout.com/closest-hires-pictu... - if not, just keep an eye on the press and news, and you'll see some stunning photos of the largest planet in our solar system.

All the best, Mark

Thanks for sharing this Mark! It was a set back when that commercial rocket exploded recently.

Hi Tim - thank you.

Yes it was a bad setback - particularly for Facebook (whos satellite was in the rocket at the time).

Still I believe Elon Musk will soon have the issues sorted, and have another rocket on the launchpad before we know it.

All the best, Mark

Hello Mark, I have always been a big follower of the solar system. The more and more we study or probe into space, the more I realise just how small we (our planet) is in comparison. Thanks for the post.

Hi Harvey - thank you - we are so small in the scheme of things.

I have some other posts on there about how big Aldebaran is for example, compared to our Sun - which is huge compared to the Earth etc. Really makes you feel small!!

Cheers, Mark
