Finally out of the starting blocks!
So, I've finally done it, I'm out of the starting blocks! After many false starts and procrastination's I've at long last taken action and started my personal blog.
I had all the usual good intentions 18+ months ago when I joined WA, my income aspirations, my planned commitment to achieving this, but like many blog 'newbies' the act of getting sat down and actually putting 'finger to keyboard' when you're not used to writing is a bit of an uphill challenge.
Like many of you I'm sure, I've looked at other peoples blogs, seen the amount of content, how well it's all laid out and thought "oh my gosh I'll never be able to write that much!", so it's taken me this long to finally take action
I think one of my justifications for not doing it sooner was my belief that no one will be interested in what I have to say, this was fueled, in part, when I noticed my blog posts within WA hadn't received many likes or comments, not a good benchmark, I know, nevertheless one that I had let stop me from starting.
Now that I've finally made the commitment and got started, I'm now quite looking forward to writing more content that I hope will be useful to my audience.
In closing, my advice to anyone else that has yet to get 'out of the starting blocks' is just write something and post it, start as I have done with an 'About' post, once this is up and on your site you'll be surprised at how motivating it is.

Way to go! Don't look back. You got the first one. Now go do the second. You are not in competition with anybody. Run your own race. You are on the path. Keep it going!!!!!

Thank you Christine, I am currently writing the draft for my second blog post.
You are quite right about not being in competition with anyone, I think many of us get wrapped up in the fear that others are better, we're not good enough etc.
I think if you look at it with the view that we all have something of value to offer someone, so no matter how small it is, if it's of value to someone then why keep it to yourself.

That's all so true, i too have difficulty getting started, all the thoughts of oh this won't work or that won't work stop one dead in their tracks. I keep telling myself, just do it and it will slowly get easier. That day has not come for me yet but i'm glad to hear you've found your starting point Mark. Keep at it and i'm sure you will succeed. :)
Thank you for your comments Scott, all I can say is just post something, it doesn't have to be perfect, you can edit it later on, but once you've got your first one posted then you're on you way.
