Marcus here...it's great to meet you!

I've been a member here for many years, and in that time WA has helped me to completely transform my life. The 9-5 is long gone, I work when and where I want, and most importantly I have been able to spend more quality time with my loved ones.

When I first joined WA I was working in a factory and had very little experience in online business. If you find yourself in a similar position then WA has your back!

Everything you need to succeed online is available to you here at WA. Embrace the community and never forget that YOU must take action if you want great things to happen :)

Thanks for stopping by my profile and I wish you every success on your own WA journey!

Cheers,

Marcus

Hi Marcus, Hope you are well. I am in the process of writing my about me page and I think I'm finished, but when I went to google to tried to find my website and I got the message of (a description for this result is not available because of this site's robots.txt What does that mean, and do I need to do something? Hi, Marcus! I hope you and yours are well. Over the years, this is my 10th year, I have paid my dues here from the affiliate program. The last couple of years I'm almost dead in the water on that score. I never was a great recruiter to WA but I would like to go back to bringing in a few members every year. Any ideas on how to revive my sinking barge? (I have missed you being Affiliate Manager here. As far as I know, they never did replace you.) John

Hi, Marcus.

I just realized I hadn't been following you. I don't know how I made such a huge oversight, but I've corrected it!

I have some (admittedly, nosy) questions. If they're too nosy, don't answer: I won't be offended.

I realize what WFHW stands for: 'Work From Home Watchdog' (GREAT site, by the way!)

Do Neil (Neil Little, prev. Big Man,) Tony (MissionOps) and Terri (Skiergal) still work on it, too?

What does WAFF stand for?
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/waff

It's impressive you've been with WA for nearly 11 years! Congratulations on making it to the Super-affiliate Vegas conference multiple times! How many times have you been?

Hi Sharon and thanks for your kind words!

WFHW has evolved greatly over the years, and Terri, Tony and Neil have not been involved for a number of years now. I run everything on my own these days.

Regarding WAFF, that was my original WA account and refers to a promotion that I ran MANY years ago! It was called 'Wealthy Affiliate For Free' (WAFF), and it worked at the time because WA didn't have a free trial or starter membership. When WA changed, I did too :-)

As for Vegas,,,now there's a question! I think I might have been 4 times now, plus I've been unable to attend a few due to commitments at home.

I hope this helps to answer your questions and I wish you every success on your own WA journey!

Cheers,

You've made SPECTACULAR progress over the years. Congratulations!

WA has wonderful resources and offers many opportunities for success. However, it's your own cleverness, hard work and perseverance (and, I'm sure, several sacrifices along the way) that turned those resources into such monumental successes for yourself.

I admire that very much.

Thank you for answering my nosy questions and for all you do to help your fellow community members. WA is richer for having you in it.

I wish you all the best in your future endeavors!

Hello! Marcus,
Thank you for your welcome note. This is the first time I am ever trying something that I would enjoy, I am so new in the online business. I have decided to do this cause I am looking for a work at home job but unfortunately it is so hard to find anything honest and a decent income.

Even though I not only have extensive experience in administration in the corporate business world, but I also have 3 years of experience as a teleservices customer care agent, team manager and lead trainer in the international Business Process Outsourcing (BPO, call center) industry. I have worked with people of varied backgrounds in dynamic environments. What I am trying to say is that with all the experience I know this will be a good fit for me and I will be successful, I do understand it will take time but I know I can reach my goal and my dream. But the matter is to get started, so I have decided to take my first step.

I have thought and researched niche's of touch phones and recipe books. Thinking of opening 2 websites one for each which is free from the starter member. Was just wondering if you could help me with any advice you would have. As I am open to any suggestions. I would admit I'm confused regarding this decision.

I would love to upgrade to premium at some point but right now I don't have the means to. I do appreciate this network and community that gives is a great opportunity to learn so much from. Thank you all for such great support.

Best Wishes,
Sarah

You are very welcome, Sarah, and it's great to hear that you have put your trust in WA!

Settling on a niche often confuses people.

They think it needs to be some perfect corner of the Internet that no one has heard of, but the reality is that so many people create successful online businesses about the same things!

I guess what I'm trying to say is...there is room for everyone :-)

My suggestion to you would be to view your niche ideas from a problematic point of view. By that I mean, out of all your interests...where are the REAL problems that people need help and advice with?

Problems = a need for a solution.

Analyze your ideas and if a niche doesn't really present any of those problems...it might be tough to monetize.

So as an example and (hopefully) a constructive way to move forward...what problems do you think exist within the niche ideas that you have mentioned?

Please don't think I am testing you here...I'm just trying to guide you towards the right mindset :-)

Niche markets that are crying out for solutions offer the greatest potential...don't forget that.

And if you can learn to eliminate those that don't require any obvious solutions early on...your online life will be a lot easier!

Have a think and let me know. I'm happy to help you to come up with the best niche idea for you personally :-)

All the best,

Marcus

Hi Lina,

Good question about the WA affiliate program. You can indeed earn affiliate commissions as a Starter member, but as you say, you do earn less per referral than you would as a Premium member. Full details can be found here:

Also don't forget to check out the Affiliate Bootcamp if your preference is to promote WA: Hope this helps for now, Lina!

PLEASE HELP!
Same problem - choose a domain and register domain, when click on domain button, following is coming up - right in middle of page:
register your first domain', on the far right corner a green tab with massage 'my chart' - click on my chart - menu open with my domain name and the price for the domain - again on the far right side a green tab what said - checkout - click on checkout - new page open - my chart and the price of the domain, and the continue button to do step number 2 - click on continue - new page open - domain pricing, there you could choose on a down roll menu for 1 year or more, right under that the next continue button for stage 3 'your contact details - there they ask for name, street address, country on a scroll, state / province, city, postal code, phone numb and email, this is before the last button which will take you to the page where you can choose your payment method.
This is on this page number 3 'your contact details' where I'm stuck, because this page does not except my postal code. What is really interesting as that they have my country code correct up for my phone number, but my postal code they said is invalid.

PLEASE go to that page and put my postal code in and see what is happening - PLEASE. My postal code is 9000 - PLEASE ! I'm stuck!

Hey!

Sure, no problem...let me see if I can help :)

As a starter member you can build a website on anything that you want, although ideally it should be something that interests you. You will have total control over your website, and it is not controlled in any way by WA.

Members at WA have built websites on a variety of topics, and if you keep an eye on the live chat area on your WA dashboard you are likely to see members mention their websites. You can also locate websites that members run by checking their WA profiles.

I hope this helps for now!

Hi Marcus,

I am still so glad & grateful that I found your website that led me here (WA) and now I've found myself at the point where I need to choose a niche. I am one of those who feels I have no real/clear passion to speak on (although I do have things I love & can speak passionately about i.e. cats, real food, ancient cosmology) so my initial idea is to speak on what I "know" & that is MS/Multiple Sclerosis. After living with this condition since age 17, that's 11 yrs. I feel as if I can provide some insight and tips to help those in a similar position. I can not understand how my insight can lead to profits/income...can you tell me if you think my niche, MS & Mindfulness can be a good site to start?
The things I can share are just the benefits of mindfulness to ones health and my experience with the teachings as it relates to MS and the stresses that come along with it.

Looking forward to your insight,
Dani ^_^

Hi Dani,

It's great to hear that you are having a good time here at WA!

I like the way you are thinking about your ideas, and I do think that your MS knowledge is something that you should really focus on as your first niche.

The fact that you have such a great understanding of the topic and how mindfulness can help is going to be really important as you develop your website and become an online authority.

I totally get what you are saying about monetizing your niche, but I definitely think it is possible.

Along with providing help to others, you can also recommend products/services/books etc that you know will help. You could even do 'hands on' reviews of new products/services and tell your visitors how helpful you found them.

As an expert on the topic, you will know which items you benefit from the most, and your visitors might not even know about them. This gives you the opportunity to do 2 things...help your visitors and earn commissions.

Hope this helps to give you a nudge in the right direction, Dani :)

Cheers,

Marcus

Hi Marcus. good to actually talk to someone - thanks for the welcome - I have been getting a bit frustrated - I replied to the welcome letter (which bounced) put two messages in the chat - no response - left a message on Carson's page - still nothing -

So if I may ask you the question - I already have a very active website/Blog (separate to my core Ecommerce site) which is a wordpress site voiceonbeauty and a good Facebook page with over 5362 fans also called voiceonbeauty. What I wanted to know is could I just add affiliate marketing to this site to make it income producing? Also can you share some sites that work the WA so I can see what the end result looks like?

Marcus, can you also clarify for me are you part of the company or a great guy prepared to assist??

Much appreciated and thanks for making contact - I have taken part in several marketing programs all run from the States and always felt a bit on the back foot way over here in NZ as everything was geared to the US market -

Cheers, Fran

You are welcome, Fran!

Regarding your question, a promotion of any kind will convert best if you have a strong relationship with your audience and can connect the product that you are recommending with a desire that they might have. In my experience, a link to something like WA (as good as it is), without making that "connection" will result in poor conversion rates. If you take the time your audience will reward you :)

On the topic of WA sites, I don't personally have links to other members sites so I am not in a position to share that information. An idea might be to ask the community if they would like to share their experiences. Not everyone will reply, but I'm sure that some will.

To answer your question about me, no, I am not part of the WA company. I have been a member here for 10 years this year and like to help out where I can :-)

I hope you are enjoying the WA experience, Fran, and I also hope that WA changes your opinion about US based programs. WA is a market leader for sure and I hope you are able to benefit in the same way that many others have.

All the best for now,

Marcus

Hi Marcus, I have now figured it out - it was your affiliate link that I responded to - so that is how it works - very much like multi level - I was in direct sales for 28 years so understand this form of marketing well - I will reserve my opinions until I have been here a bit longer ..

Can you direct me to the training on finding Affiliate companies - in my Beauty, Health and lifestyle? I would be keen to start with Pacific companies rather than Amazon or US - as a trial - thanks Marcus.

Hi Fran,

To answer your initial question, yes you certainly can. You can either keep your website with your current host or you also have the option to transfer it over to WA - saving on your hosting costs :) Either way, yes, you can use it as your project here at WA.

Yes, having joined WA through my website you remain connected to me within the WA community. The affiliate business model is at the core of what WA teaches you and it has been used across the Internet, by millions of worldwide companies for years. The referral side of things is where the MLM connection ends because there are no levels to WA. Affiliate marketing is legitimate and simple referral system.

Regarding your question about finding suitable companies for your business, here is a lesson by Kyle where he explains how. This training is actually part of the core training at WA so you would reach it anyway, but I think you are ready for it already: Hope this helps,

Hi again, Marcus!

Sorry I have not been in touch for some time. Been worrying a lot in regard to my increasingly shrinking savings and wondering what to do in the meantime until work resumes in the fall. Things are currently not going well.

Still continuing on with my lessons. As far as my senior pets niche goes, I narrowed it a bit more and the only thing that looks promising is senior pet care products. I think I can be successful in this, and I hope I can do affiliate marketing with it.

I came up with more than three potential categories in the last exercise. Hope you don't mind my sharing them with you.

The potential categories: Proper nutrition, exercise, products, safety and comfort, wellness, and mobility.

Is there potential as far as senior pet care products go?

Will be waiting for your reply. If only I could afford to upgrade to Premium so I would be able to continue communicating with you, but times have been tough this summer. Thanks for understanding.

Hi Stella,

No problem at all and really well done with all of your effort so far! I appreciate how difficult your situation must be.

Honestly, there is so much affiliate potential within the categories that you mentioned. You really have nothing to fear there. Funnily enough I was only looking at a dog related program the other day. The focus was mostly on exercise and better behavior but it paid affiliates an average of $74 per month in recurring commissions. This shows the potential available.

Keep moving forward because you are doing just great! I'm here to help so let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi Marcus,

Firstly, thanks for all the encouragement. I've been looking into developing my niche and decided to focus on "treatment for sleep-related disorders" (with an emphasis on women and children). I did some research using the alphabet soup technique, shortlisted a few candidates (mostly 3-5 words in a sensible phrase) and then used Jaaxy to qualify them. Much of my shortlist ranked very poorly but I did manage to unearth a number of good ones. My concern is really around the average clicks per month though...most were in the 100-200 range even with high SEO scores (80+), great QSRs (usually below 200) and fairly good KQI.

Short question...should I be concerned about those low clicks per month? Does that indicate importance in the marketplace...and does this in any way predict the financial viability of this niche?

Looking forward to your guidance.

Rgds,
Joshua.

Hey Joshua,

Great progress and really good question!

The first thing I will add is that traffic related data is never exact. Focusing on certain keywords in particular will not only attract traffic for those exact keywords, it will also attract searches for related keywords. Only Google knows what they rank you for so just consider that keyword data as an indication of what you can expect.

Also remember that the greater number of keywords that you target, the greater your overall level of traffic is likely to be. If you haven't seen it yet then there's a great resource here on 'low hanging fruit' and how a large number of small search volume keywords equates to one, much bigger pool of searches and visitors.

I've personally never been overly concerned by search data. As your site grows you will also find that you will start to rank for a multitude of additional keywords, so producing excellent content is key to your growth.

Hope this helps!

Hi Marcus,

I arrived at WA via your website, given that I'm intrigued to learn more about how to make a popular website profitable.

My most recent sizeable online project was as co-owner of a very popular soccer website, certainly within the niche focus of covering the Spanish game in high detail and in English, which I left mid-2015.

1.8m uniques every month, front page of Google for search rankings within our niche and over 90% of the time for specific searches, given the website was very well optimised. 3rd in the Alexa rankings for our niche, with only the official websites of FC Barcelona and Real Madrid ahead of us...

Quality and quantity of content was never an issue, we had a loyal readership which constantly grew each month, plus a strong and constantly growing following we greatly enjoyed engaging with on Twitter. Over 50k followers at the time I left.

All sounds great, but what was the problem? Well, revenue. We tried various ad agencies, but only ever really peaked at generating anywhere between $500 to $1,000 per month. That doesn't sound too bad on face value, but with considerable expenses and a team of journalists to support, very little for the huge effort everyone was putting in. (16+ hour days for myself and fellow co-owner)

As a springboard for writers, I suppose it could be considered a resounding success, as almost all who wrote for us went on to work with leading sports media outlets around the world, based on their experience with us.

The main issue according to the ad agencies, was that less than 40% of our monthly audience was "first-world" from countries such as USA, Canada, UK, etc. Individually they would account for our highest individual ranking countries, but the remaining 60% of our audience was from Africa and Asia, which according to those ad agencies, were practically worthless.

Essentially and for myself, friends and colleagues, producing quality content and developing popular sites with strong social networks, has never really been a problem. Generating quality revenue from them has.

I'm very keen to learn how that can change through WA and, if yourself or fellow members have experience working with sites that have similar readership numbers, I'd be very keen to touch base with them to share experiences. Particularly keen learn how to seriously monetise websites and social networks, as the business side of things has never been a particular strong point of mine!

Apologies for such a long message, but wanted to add a little background.

Thanks :)

Hi Heath,

It's great to meet you and thanks for the thorough overview of your soccer website.

I don't personally have any experience with that amount of natural traffic, but I am experienced in dealing with traffic from Africa, India, Asia etc. It's definitely not as easy to convert and any experienced webmaster will likely agree.

I'm guessing that your website required constant updates due to the nature of the niche, and that of course would ensure that running costs remained high. In my head I'm comparing your site with a similar site in a niche that doesn't require updating as often. Sure, income might not change a great deal but outgoings would be considerably less and of course, it wouldn't require such a high level of commitment on your part. It would also be more of an asset as profit margins would increase.

Out of interest, did you ever use email marketing to reach your visitors and build relationships or did you rely solely on social media?

I do agree with the ad agencies regarding certain parts of the world and the value they can bring to a business. Kyle and Carson had a similar issue here at WA and implemented a rule where people from specific countries could only join as Premium members and not as Starters. It might be worth speaking with them to get their thoughts on your experience.

The only real nugget that I can offer you here, Heath, is that I believe WA will teach you how to convert at a higher rate than you previously experienced. I'm not sure if it could make much of a difference to the soccer site due to the nature of the niche and profit margins. But if you were to start over with a new idea and apply what WA teaches, I am certain that you will be in a much better position.

I look forward to seeing how thing work out for you, Heath. Keep me updated with your progress and let me know if there's anything else that I can help with along the way :)

Cheers,

Marcus

Thanks for the feedback Marcus.

We were producing anywhere from 20-30 fresh articles each day, or more around busy events like 'El Clásico' (Real Madrid vs Barcelona) or other important matches, so yes, a lot of work and sometimes our content was getting more hits than some of the larger online media outlets.

At times it was frustrating just to think, if we could get just $0.01 for every visitor and we got (for example) 1 million visitors in a month, that would generate $10,000 in revenue.

Price per 1000 advertising doesn't quite work that way unfortunately, based on revenue from different countries. UK, USA and other first world countries could at times generate up to $15 per 1000 uniques, but India, Nigeria, etc, not even $0.01 per 1000 uniques at times.

Hence my exploring different options on offer here, whilst I formulate different ideas for projects :)

No problem at all, Heath!

Yes, I can imagine how frustrating that would have been. Such a shame but a great experience for you...and one that will develop your potential further this time around.

Do let me know how things go at WA and if you ever need to bounce any ideas...you know where I am :)

Cheers,

Marcus

Hi Mr. Marcus..

I just wanted to ask two simple yet important questions..

1) When you first started in 2006, what kept you going? I mean, what did you do or say to yourself to keep yourself believing that you would succeed and be where you are today? Did you ever think of giving up?

2) Did you stick with your niche or evolve it as time passes, based on people's feedback or your own decision to change certain parts of it?

Would appreciate it if you could tell about your own experience. Feeling stuck in the sense, I'm not sure if I can succeed.

Hey Zi Xiang,

Good questions!

1) I had a very strong desire to succeed online because my family were dependent on me to earn an income. It was tough for sure, but I always believed in myself. A lot of my strength came from Kyle & Carson, who were always on hand to help during the early days.

2) I've had many niches over the years. Some worked great and others failed completely. I've learned that failure is something that you need to rise above. You also need to accept that ideas that you might think are great, might not be! Just brush yourself off and start over...it will make you stronger.

Just remember that anyone can succeed here, Zi Xiang. This community has success running through its veins, and if you apply yourself, and believe in yourself, great things will happen :)

All the best,

Marcus

Hi again, Marcus! Found your message on my profile page this morning.

So I opened a Jaaxy account and did my lesson regarding keywords. I think I did okay finding a few keywords for my niche on senior pets. When I saw the amount of monthly searches on the keywords I had in mind, it came out much less than the amount mentioned in the lesson (way, way less than 50). Should I worry? I really thought there would be something with senior pets.

Oh, and when did searches on Jaaxy, I quickly went through all the 30 free searches. I was surprised to burn through them so fast. Unfortunately I can't afford to upgrade at this time. Drat!

What then? What next? Guess all I can do is keep on with my lessons and do my best, right?

Any advice, comments, suggestions would be gladly welcomed.

Hi Stella,

Try to not think of your niche being really narrow in terms of keyword scope. For example, one of my websites is about work from home products. I simply cannot compete in the search results for keywords linked to "working from home", but if I move sideways and focus on related keywords and products, there's an endless supply of opportunities.

Although your focus is senior pets, make a list of all related keywords and total up the collective search volume. You will be surprised how your potential can quickly improve by thinking a little bit outside of the box :)

On that topic, if you haven't seen it already, use the search function at the top of your WA dashboard to search for "low hanging fruit". Training on this will definitely help you!

Also don't forget that you have the keyword tool here at WA if you have used up your Jaaxy searches.

Hopefully this gives you a few ideas to move forward with, Stella. Yes, keep moving forward with the training and applying all of the above :)

Cheers,

Marcus

He Oanh,

It's great to meet you!

Glad to hear that you made it here and I would guess that your questions got swallowed up by the spam filter on my website :( Not suggesting that your comments were spam, but they probably got swallowed up with a bunch at the same time.

Anyways, it's great to have you join us and by all means ask any questions if I can be of any help to you :)

All the best,

Marcus

Hello
Thank you very much for the warm welcome.
I do actually have questions, is there a restriction to the rating of content used for the sites we create eg pornography, violence ect.
Also had an idea for helping people recover from bad psychedelic experiences by educating them on the after care involved.
Is this a bad idea ?

Hi Joshua,

I'm not entirely sure of restricted content, but I am pretty certain that any type of pornography or violence will not be allowed. That said, Kyle or Carson would be able to confirm that.

Your idea about helping people recover from psychedelic experiences would be ok and is also a really great and specific niche idea :)

Hope this helps to further your ideas, Joshua!

Cheers,

Marcus
