Making your site mobile friendly
I really appreciate all the feedback I get, and the other day i got some feedback from a lovely guy regarding my website bestsupplements4men.com
He told me my website pages were difficult to find at the top of the page. I hadn't heard this from any other commentor, so I did something I rarely do, I looked at my site on my laptop, and to some degree he was right!
The reason I had not noticed this, is because I alway look at my site on a mobile device, typically my smartphone or my tablet. Where it looks very good.
I watched Kyle's first live training, and he mentioned the Google mobile test. You can just google it and it will run a test and tell you how mobile friendly your site is.
The fact is 90% of people who are online are now using a mobile device, typically a smartphone, so it is crucial that your site is easy to read and looks good on a mobile device.
When I ran the test, both my websites scored highly and were extremely mobile friendly.
So I was happy. I may play around with my header a bit to improve the look on a computer or laptop, but on the whole I'm certainly not finding any problem getting traffic to my site because of how my sites appear on a desktop.
So if you want to get Google's opinion on how mobile friendly your site is, Google the 'Google mobile friendly test'

Hi Marcie,
Good post...
I started out using a standard WordPress theme that was not mobile friendly and then later added a plugin to create a mobile friendly version for smartphone users...
The thing was that Google was not giving me credit for having a mobile friendly version and that can hurt you with mobile Google searches...
So I vowed to make the plunge into a new theme that IS fully responsive (for viewing on mobile and other devices), which has created a whole litany of tasks hehe...
Had I been aware of this requirement I would have started out with such a theme, but it was not emphasized then (and indeed, although the trend was there, many people did not have such a theme)...
These days it really is imperative that you have this...I know that for all future sites I build now and the extra work to get some of the older sites up to speed is worth it...
This is much like the use of SSL (and if you're taking payments for products on your site there are other standards of security to consider as well)...It pretty much is the standard these days...
The more you know....
Cheers!

Hey Dave!
Thank you for your comment! I agree with you wholly. I was fortunate that I chose themes for my sites that are mobile friendly. Because I rarely do anything other than work on my laptop, all my shopping, browsing etc, I tend to do on my phone or tablet, I was very quickly aware that my sites looked good on a mobile device.
SSL...now there's something that I'm having a few problems with at the moment. Every time I activate it , all my photos disappear from my sites, and when I disable it they come back.
At the moment i'm getting advice from site support, but what a faff!!
but as you say, the more you know...
Stay awesome!

Thanks for this.
Its just something to consider. The test actually shows you how your site looks on a smartphone. Which is very beneficial, especially if you don't have one!..It always pays to see what others are seeing.
Have a great day!
